Deigh happily exited the dining room humming. She was so happy that she even smiled brightly in front of the Duke Regal before leaving, forgetting yesterday's event.
"Yesterday's part of the past. Let's not bother with it anymore, Father. "
She even told the Duke with a bright smile which further added to the confusion of the Duke.
As she went out the Duke resigned to his thoughts.
These days he couldn't understand Luxiana even more, as if she had completely become another person. But he thought that it was a good change because she can now freely tell her feelings. It's just that he felt like there's a greater wall, a fortress far taller built between them that he can't passed through.
It was sad but he'll try his best breaking through that wall no matter how long of a time he'll have to spend.
Truthfully, he love his daughter so much but the problem is he didn't know how to approach her.
When Luxiana was young, he always went to visit her yet couldn't go when she was awake. He would always leave toys on her room without her knowing. The butler, Hans, tells him to approach her, yet he doesn't know how to, he was awkward and does not know how to be a father because he did not have a father figure of his own when he was young.
Everytime he approach her, she would tremble so much as if terrified of him that is why he decided to limit contacting his daughter.
The only times he met her was when he would go to scold her, because he was afraid that if she continues to be involved on fights she would get nothing but a lot of enemies which he fears the most. He might be once a hero of the empire but towards his daughter's safety he was not confident he could protect her, his most precious family.
Then, until it just became normal for them to act like they don't know each other. The Duke, Regal, wants to change it but when he remembered how Luxiana became so distant. He realized there is no more chance to fix it.
When he investigate what happened, he realized that what Luxiana said was true.
He sent his men to uncover the truth. Fortunately, one lady came to approach the duke through the interception of his knight.
It was said that the noble lady was guilty of her silence despite of knowing the whole truth that is why she decided to tell the duke.
Duke Regal knowing the truth regretted his actions towards his daughter. He realized how much he had wronged and neglected his daughter that he was bothered by it until he met her daughter on the dinner.
He knows that it would be hard to make it up to his daughter but he'll do everything in order to attain for his mistakes.
When she reached the door to the library, Deigh realized something.
"A diamond mine?!!!" she yelled, shock on how she just remembered it now.
Suddenly a voice she is not expecting answered.
"What about it, Young Miss?" curious of her master's reaction, Yera asks.
Deigh jumped out of shock and faced Yera who's standing behind her.
"Oh my God!!! Yera don't just appear anywhere, can you? You'll be the death of me... seriously"
She touched her chest and felt her heart beating so fast.
"My lady, don't die on me!!!" Yera who narrowed their distance exclaimed looking at Deigh with teary eyes.
'Seriously, why is she such a cry baby? Overreacting at every single thing... '
She massaged her temple trying to calm herself.
"Then, don't just appear anywhere alright?"
"Y... Yes, my lady." Yera answered as she continues to sniff.
"Just stop crying already. " Deigh can't help but voice her thoughts louder than usual.
' Ugh, how am I supposed to calm down with this?' she thought as she turned the knob.
She entered the room and planned to closed it without letting anyone in but Yera entered too.
She looked at Yera confused.
"What do you need?"
The maid did nothing but looked at her with puppy eyes.
"Please... Let me served you, Young Miss. Do you need refreshments, or snacks just tell me."
She furrowed her brows again.
"No"
"Please..."
"Go out." she ordered Yera.
The maid who wants to stay with her young miss, left the room with slumped shoulders disappointed at her master's cold treatment.
She took a seat.
'What should I do with the diamond mine? Should I just leave it to father's care or should I make use of it? '
Looking back, she did not ask for a mine. She only needs a fund to prepare for her future yet the duke went out of his way to propose her the title to the property.
At the dinner he discussed the transfer with her and the butler. Hans immediately disagree with the transfer and suggested for it to occur when she reached 20 years of age, there was still a year left but the Duke refused and ordered the butler to do so even with his arguments. She told her father that she doesn't need the mine but the Duke insists so much that she grew tired of explaining.
Sighing, she look at her surroundings and to her surprise, the library is quite spacious. There are a lot of huge shelves that she became dizzy looking at them. She didn't find a librarian or anyone at the place when she entered but the place was so clean and organized, it looks like it was maintained.
'The Duke must be fond of the library.' Deigh thought.
She stood up from her seat and decided to find a book. She browse through the towering shelves but decided to only browse at the shelf with a label "Business". She felt dizzy looking at the top that is why she decided to browse only at the lower levels of the shelf.
But to her dismay she couldn't find a book that pique her interest. She was about to go back but as she look up she saw a book that looks to be so old, she was intrigued.
She easily find a ladder at the other end of the shelf and climbed on it, fortunately the book was near it.
'Climbing ladders are easy.'
She took the book with ease.
'Ah... This is it!!! The answer to my problem' she thought.
