When morning came, Rider awoke half-hoping that the past day was all a dream. It wasn't. He grumbled, arms holding Goggles tightly. The blue-haired male had yet to awake, and Rider wanted to just... keep him safe. The shock of Prince's death last night made everyone kind of realize... This was real. Whether they liked it or not, they could die and probably would. As if he needed even more of a reason to be scared.

He sighed. No use laying around and waiting for that fear to go away when it won't. He sat up, still holding Goggles close. Ultimately, Rider had to be productive, but he didn't want to disturb Goggles' rest.

"Fuckin' hell.." He stood up, laying Goggles down on the bed. The two had established a small home in a shallow cave, hidden away from most of the others. Rider had gathered what they needed to survive and even set up a small farm in the sunlight by breaking a hole in the roof. It was also a nifty time indicator.

His daily chores were simple: Fishing in the small river that ran through their home, harvest the crops and replant them, and replace the coal in the furnaces. The problem, Rider didn't have much coal.

"Shit.. Do I seriously need to go mining?" He asked himself. "Goddamnit.."

He grabbed a piece of paper and a bit of squid ink, writing a small note.

" Oi, Gogs.

I'm gonna be mining for a bit. Stay here, I'll be back soon."

He left it by the bed, before grabbing his pic and a bit of food, heading out of the small cave via breaking through the cobblestone wall, fixing it when he was on the other side of it, now in a bigger cave. Rider moved through the cave, gathering ores and all he needed.

Now, Rider was tough. He could take zombies, skeletons... even creepers in a fight. What he couldn't take, was heights.

Rider looked down a hole in the cave. It went down, incredibly low. Below him, was solid stone. He gulped, and turned away from the hole, to come face to face with a creeper.

He raised his shield, the blast breaking it and knocking Rider back.

To the edge of the hole.

He was frozen with fear, working on calming down when a skeleton shot at him, knocking him back.

Rider curled up, bracing himself for impact and he hit the ground.

Everything went black.

Back at home, Goggles was up, playing with an axolotl he discovered on the first morning. He named it Sunny. His communicator buzzed, and he smiled. "One moment Sunny. I need to check this!" He took his com out of his pocket, and his eyes widened with fear.

>Rider hit the ground too hard.

Rider had died. He was...

"Uhg.. That hurt like shit..."

Goggles perked up, seeing Rider now laying in their bed. "RIDER!" He pounced on Rider, gently nuzzling him. Rider just hugged him tightly, shaking.

"H-Hey, Gogs.."

"You alright?"

Rider hesitated, but nodded. "I think s-so... god, I n-never wanna die a-again..."

"It's okay. I'll make sure you don't!" he smiled, kissing Rider's forehead.

Rider stifled a laugh, opting to just... Hold Goggles tightly. "A-and I'll make sure you survive, in turn."

"...Your eye looks different." Goggles said, after a moment of rather blissful silence.

"It.. Does?" Rider asked. "How?"

"It's like, a yellow shade now! Like... like the sun!" The blue boy said. "It's really cute!"

"It's a sign of my death. It's... not cute. It means I could be dangerous."

"But you're not! You won't die again, I promise!" Goggles' smile widened, and his grip tightened. "We're gonna be okay!"

"...If you say so, Gogs.."
