They were heading to the Natagumo Mountain.
Zenitsu remembered this day well. Most of it at least. From what Tanjiro had told him before, there was a lower moon residing in the mountain. The kakushi had also told him about what had transpired that day. There were about five demons there, including Rui.
If he wanted this mission to go well, he had to make a plan.
First, the spider-body demon.
"Tanjiro, Inosuke, you guys go ahead! I have to take care of something first," He shouted, before sprinting away to a deep part of the woods.
"Oi, Rowitsu! Where are you going dammit!" Inosuke called out after the blond.
Zenitsu looked back, "I can hear a demon close-by. I'll kill it first and then join you guys later. Keep going!"
Tanjiro moved his hands around his mouth to shout, "Are you sure that's a good idea, Zenitsu? Maybe we shouldn't split up!"
"I'll be fine! I can hear more than one demon here! Its best if we cut them down as soon as possible!" the blond yelled one more time before turning back to continue running.
As the silhouette of their friend became smaller and smaller, Tanjiro hummed in worry, "Inosuke, do you think we should follow Zenitsu?"
The boar-head wearing boy tsked, "If that idiot wants to die, I say we let him."
The red-head's eyes widened, "Inosuke! You shouldn't say that!"
"Whaha! Monjitsu will be fine. I fought him before, and he could keep up," Inosuke gripped both his swords tighter, "Now, follow me minion! Haha!" he ran straight to the dense forest.
Tanjiro stared at the boy's back for a couple of seconds.
He sure had some odd friends.
------
Zenitsu ran through the trees as fast as he could. He wasn't that worried about the demon. If he could kill him before, he could kill him again. It was Tanjiro and Inosuke he was worried about. They had been really injured in the last world.
This time, he'd actually be of use to them.
When he passed through the trees decorated with many cobwebs, he knew he had finally reached a clearing where the demon resided. There it was, the tree house. But the demon was nowhere to be found.
Faintly, Zenitsu heard a sound behind him, so he dodged before the splash of venom could reach him.
"Hehehe... Another meal for me..." Zentisu looked back, and there it was. The demon smirked as it hanged on a cobweb attached to a tree.
"Hello. You're a demon slayer, aren't you? Hehehe... don't even bother trying to defeat us," it gave a sinister grin, "We've already defeated hundreds of you."
"I'm not interested in making small talk." Zenitsu stared at the creature with a blank face.
"Oh? Hehehe... Alright then, let's see if you can-"
Before the demon could even finish its sentence, the blond dashed.
"Thunder breathing, first form: Thunderclap and Flash, Sixfold!" Zenitsu made six dashes, effectively cutting off the strings supporting the demon. And before the demon could fall to the ground, Zenitsu cut off its head quickly.
He was so fast, the demon had barely even registered what happened.
"What!?" it said in disbelief.
"How? How! No! This Isn't Possible!" it screamed as its head hit the ground with a thump, "You fucker! I will kill you! No! Nooo!"
