WE WOKE UP LATE THAT MORNING. Everyone was racing to use the shower. Luckily, Franco had some spare clothes in his room, so we just wore those.

"Are all the new underwear in Franco's closet gone?" Imil asked while rummaging through the clothes. "Marcus won't have anything left to wear."

"I hid them," Zius whispered.

I shook my head. Franco was still showering in the other bathroom, so I knocked on Marcus' door. He'd been in there forever.

"Hey!" I yelled, slamming the door. "What took you so long?"

"I'm pooping!" he barked back.

"You've been there forever! I need to pee!"

"What do you want me to do about it?!"

"Hurry up!"

"Go pee in the other bathroom! You're annoying!"

I burst out laughing and shook my head. When Marcus finally came out, he immediately started looking for his underwear. All of us just stared at him, pretending to be innocent.

"I know you guys hid them!" Marcus said, pouting.

None of us replied.

"Oh, that's how it is, huh?" He began to untie the bathrobe he was wearing. "Guess I'll just go naked—"

"No!"

"Don't!"

"Here's your damn underwear!" Zius said, acting like he was about to throw up as he handed them over. "You just wanted an excuse to strip. Disgusting."

Marcus laughed while I just shook my head.

After we all got ready, we headed straight to Bloom Village. Relief flooded me when I saw Joy preparing lunch—l, I was starving.

Franco's house had no food left because Archer and the others had eaten everything.

Once I finished eating, I changed clothes ad I had to visit the L'azienda base.

Thankfully, I didn't have any big missions assigned for the day. Before leaving, I stopped by Elimae's house.

"Come in first," she said, holding my hand and gently pulling me inside.

"Is Jenna here?"

"No. She went out."

I froze. "Then I'll just come back later when she's home."

"Don't you want to spend time with me?" she asked quietly, her voice tinged with hurt.

"It's not that," I said, scratching my head.

"Fine. Then go." She let go of my hand and walked inside.

It took me a few seconds to realize what had happened.

She left me dumbfounded.

I immediately went to the door and knocked, but she didn't answer. "My Eli, I'm sorry," I said softly. "Let me in, please. I still have an hour before work."

"Do whatever you want!"

"Please? Open the door."

"You probably don't even like me. That's why you don't spend time with me!"

"Can I come inside? Please?" I said sweetly.

"You're just forcing yourself! You can't even give me a label, how can you give me quality time?!"

"What?" I blurted. "Come on, my Eli, let's talk properly. Please open the door."

After a few moments of silence, I heard the doorknob turn. Her jaw was tight, arms crossed.
