24: First Of September

THE MOMENT I GOT BACK to Axi's club, I saw Kyler and Ari helping Rain walk outside. When Ari saw me, he immediately nodded at me.

"Let me guess," Kyler started. "You drove back here to explain what we saw earlier, right?"

"Yes. I—"

"No need to explain." He chuckled, then glanced at Ari. "I told you."

"Is she mad?" I asked them as I picked Rain up in my arms.

"No," Ari answered directly. "Even drunk, she didn't say anything bad about you."

"Get inside the car," Kyler uttered. "Just leave your car here. Come with us."

I smiled widely and nodded. I carefully got inside Kyler's car.

Rain was sleeping soundly in my arms.

I couldn't help but smile. Finally, she was with me.

"Is Mr. Forrester in Karao?" I asked them.

"Yep," Ari answered. "He doesn't leave that place."

"I saw a really gorgeous woman earlier at the club," Ari chimed in. "I just didn't get her name. That woman was stunning."

"Was she one of the people I was with earlier?" I asked.

"Nope."

"What does she look like? Maybe I know her." I smiled when Rain tightened her embrace around me. I focused back on Ari, who clearly couldn't forget the girl he'd seen.

"She has long, straight jet-black hair." He let out a loud sigh.

My forehead creased. "Hmm... Do you have any specific descri—"

"Oh!" Ari said. "I remember!" He chuckled. "She has a lily flower tattoo on her back!"

"She must be Hera."

He quickly turned toward me. "H-Hera?"

I nodded. "Yes. Hera Esposito. She's Spanish."

"Wait. Let me check on my social media if it's really her. I don't want to hype myself up for nothing." He typed seriously on his phone. "Oh, wow. This woman is gorgeous. It's her." he said happily, showing me Hera's social media feed.

"I didn't know she was back."

"You're friends?" he asked.

I shook my head. "No. Not really."

"Then why do you know her?"

"She was my best friend's fiancée."

"What?!" he exclaimed.

Even Kyler, who was driving, stopped at the side of the road and looked at me. "Was?"

I nodded. "Yes."

"Why?"

"My best friend is in love with my sister, and they're now happily married," I said with a smile. "I've known Hera for a long time because she was engaged to him, but I never really got to talk to her."

"That means she's single?" Ari asked, eyes sparkling.

"That, I don't know."

"I'll just ask her."

"Brave," I muttered, shaking my head.

After a few seconds, Kyler started driving again toward the hotel.

"She replied fast!"

"Do you really have to announce that?" Kyler snapped.

"If she likes me back, I'm never letting her go."
