"WAKE UP!"

I groaned loudly since I was still so sleepy and I had no idea why someone was suddenly calling me.

"It's already noon!"

"Fuuuuuck!" I lazily opened my eyes and saw the woman again. "You told me to sleep then you wake me up?! Are you messing with me?" I snapped at her.

"Your food," she said, then leaned on the doorframe of my room. "I placed it on the table."

"Do you work here?"

"Depends on my mood, but right now, yes..." Her hands were in her pockets as she turned around.

"You're leaving already?"

She suddenly stopped, but she didn't look back. "You'll hate me more if I stay."

I didn't say anything and just watched her leave. When I heard the door close, I headed to the bathroom and took a shower. I made it quick because I knew that if I stayed too long, I'd remember Eli again... and remembering her would make me lose my mind again.

The woman brought a lot of food and I finished everything. The meals she brought were actually really good. After eating, I decided to sleep again because everything still felt heavy. Maybe I'd go out later... hopefully somewhere she wouldn't find me again.

It was already late afternoon when I woke up. I got ready then stepped outside. I didn't know what I wanted to do. Good thing the place wasn't crowded. When I reached the shore, I saw a group of people gathered not too far away. They looked like they were in their early twenties.

I had my fun at that age. I hope they don't let their smiles fade.

I shook my head. I turned away from them and walked. I wanted to be alone. I wanted to drink, but somehow I was starting to lose interest in everything. Good thing I wore a jacket because the breeze in Karao was cold, especially with evening approaching.

I walked slowly for several minutes. I stopped when I couldn't help but look at the sunset. I forced a smile. "I'm sorry if I can't appreciate your beauty at the moment," I muttered.

When I'm gone, I hope my family—

"Hey!"

I jolted when I heard the voice. I immediately looked toward it. There she was again... walking toward me while holding a glass jar. "You're here again?!" I said irritably.

"You can't get rid of me," she said, clicking her tongue. She opened the glass jar and took something out. She grinned widely at me before showing it. "Do you eat sugarplums?" She held one close to my face. "Here. Take it—"

I quickly swatted her hand away, accidentally hitting the glass jar too. "Fuck!" I hissed. "Are you okay?" I asked, concerned.

"What's your problem?!" she shouted. "I was trying to be nice!"

"How did you know sugarplum is my favorite?! Do you know what it means for me and Eli?!"

"What?!" she replied, brows furrowed. "What do I care about you two?!"

"Then why are you carrying that?!"

"Seriously?! You think you're the only one who eats this?! Is it my fault my Dad made these for me?!"

"I used to love that but I fucking hate it now!"

"I don't care!" She knelt on the sand and picked up the fallen sugarplums one by one, putting them back into the jar. Her shoulders were rising and falling. "You're fucking stupid!" she muttered.
