"I WANT TO GO FISHING," RAIN said. She had just finished bringing in the food.
A week had passed since I got sick. She had been visiting me at my unit regularly. Today, we decided to go out and walk around since the weather was fine.
"Why?"
"I want to eat fish," she said, pouting while checking herself in the mirror. "My hair is such a mess. You didn't even tell me."
"You're not allowed to go out yet," I reminded her. "And your hair looks fine." I stood and approached her in front of the large mirror. I looked at myself. I only wore beach shorts while she had a crop-top shirt and bikini. I ruffled her hair gently again. "That's better."
She rolled her eyes then turned her back on me and walked toward the door. "Let's go!"
I nodded and followed her. "Where are we going?" I asked as we stepped outside the resort. I saw other guests around.
There were a lot of people today, but it wasn't overcrowded.
"What do you want? Should we buy bracelets or get henna tattoos?"
I grinned. "Why not both?"
She smiled widely and nodded excitedly. "Perfect!" She walked ahead toward the bracelet vendor.
"How are you, Madam?" greeted the woman selling the bracelets.
"What? Don't call me Madam! Jealrain is fine," she said, smiling.
The woman scratched her head. "Okay, J-Jealrain..." She forced a smile, clearly not used to this. "Pick whichever beads you like. There are letters too, in case you want to add names."
She rubbed my back and pointed to the beads. "Choose now. What do you want?"
"It'll be nice to put our names on it."
She immediately nodded. "I like that!"
After choosing our bracelet designs, we watched the woman make them. I smiled seeing a bracelet finished with "Rain" on it. She handed it to Rain, but I grabbed it first.
"This is mine," I said with a grin.
"That's mine!"
"Nope." I quickly wore her bracelet.
I was tired of seeing my own name, so I had no intention of wearing the one with my name. "It'd be nice to see you wear a bracelet with my name on it."
"Here you go," said the woman, handing another bracelet with my name.
"Thank you," Rain said, wearing it with a smile.
"You look great together," the woman added.
We both turned to her, surprised by the comment.
"I mean, the bracelet looks great on you..." Then she grinned.
"Ah..." Rain responded, laughing slightly.
I shook my head while handing over the payment. The woman seemed about the same age as Serene.
I trailed behind Rain toward the henna shop.
"What design should we get for our henna?" I asked. We waited in line since there were other customers.
"We? Our henna? You mean we would get the same design?"
I nodded. "Yes. What design and where should we place it?" I repeated.
"On our forearms," she replied before sitting down, then looked at me. "About the design... How about a minimalist dove?"
