Since there was more than one prisoner to transport the Kahn had his guards take us to a small town that had a dock. They had put us under the lower deck of a ship that had jail cells... great. After a few hours on the ship, all of Kotal Kahn's fleet headed out leaving us alone. Jacqui examines her cell, looking for a way out, Cassie tries forcing the door of her cell open to no success, Kung Jin meditates, and Takeda sits on one end of the bench in our cell with one hand on his temple while I sit on the other end trying not to have a panic attack when I suddenly hear a voice in my head.
'Are you alright?' I look up to Takeda amazed at what his telepathy can do.
'I'll be fine I think?'
'Don't like small spaces?'
'Nope, spend three years of my life in a tiny cell with someone. Let's say that tends to loosen a few screws when it comes to tight spaces'.
'Don't worry we'll be out of here soon' Takeda reassured as our little mind chat was interrupted by Jacqui who finally broke the silence in the room.
"So what do you guys think? Are they going to kill us?"
"They would've done it by now". Takeda says and Kung Jin chimes in.
"Unless Kotal Kahn's planning on having us as "guests" at the Coliseum."
Cassie rattles the bars on the cell door, to no avail. She sighs in frustration.
"Well, if they don't kill us, my mother will. Me, at least."
"Tough being the general's daughter?" Takeda asks.
"You have no idea."
"I do. My great-whatever grandfather took down Shang Tsung. Saved Earthrealm. How often do you think that comes up at family gatherings?" Kung Jin states finishing his meditation while earning a confused stare from Cassie
"That was six hundred years ago."
"And yet they think it happened yesterday." Kung Jin says probably talking about his family.
"No pressure there" Jacqui exclaims
"I've trained all my life... can fight my way out of nearly anything... but I still feel like a second-rate Cage". Cassie says feeling down about her current situation.
"At least you grew up with people expecting things from you." Takeda explained earning a confused look from Jacqui.
"I thought you and your dad were best friends?"
Takeda gets up and walks toward the cell door, leaning on the bars.
"Now. He was a no-show for a long time."
"I can relate." Jacqui agrees
"What was that like growing up? Having an ex-revenant father?"
"Jin!" Takeda calls out to Jin not wanting to ask about a sensitive subject.
"No, I'm asking! Couldn't have been easy."
"He was just a BIT over-protective. When I joined S-F, Mister Cage insisted on being the one to tell my dad. He thought it'd go over smoother."
Cassie chuckles at this.
"I'll never forget that day. My dad came home with a broken jaw"
They all share a brief chuckle at the comment and silence soon returned only for it to be broken by Jin this time motioning to me.
"Wait I just realized, we never really asked for your name even though you know ours"
"It's Satoshi"
"Well, Satoshi, what are you planning to do if we get out? Can't really go back to live your life here in Outworld since you will be seen as a criminal."
"I'm not sure..."
"Why not come to Earthrealm?" Asked Takeda and suggested when he had my attention.
"You are from the past Shirai Ryu, I'm sure my grandmaster would be more than happy to welcome you back. At least think about it?"
"I will" I say. After a moment's silence, we hear footsteps from above deck. A silhouette appears at the hatch of the deck, and the sound of keys jingling is unmistakable.
"All right, I got this." Takeda exclaims earning a confused look from Cassie
"You've got what, exactly?"
"Trust me."
The hatch is opened. One of Kotal Kahn's soldiers enters the deck with a bucket full of bread loaves. He stops once he reaches the end of the staircase.
"Away from the bars!"
We comply with the order. The soldier starts tossing the bread loaves starting from Cassie's side but when he gets to Takeda and me, he stops noticing Takeda has his eyes closed in concentration until they suddenly snap open. The soldier groans and tries to clutch his head, but falls unconscious before he can. Takeda leans through the bars and grabs the keys on his waist belt. He ties a number of keys but none seem to fit the cell's keyhole.
"Damn it they don't match" He says and gives the keys to Jacqui next to us to try them on hers. I get up from the bench and head close to the lock putting my hand against it I start melting the lock and opening the door. Everyone looks at me amazed as I head to everyone and open their doors.
"Didn't know you could do that, why didn't you do it sooner?" Jacqui asked
"Had to make sure there weren't many people on board I've been hearing many footsteps until the last few minutes now was the perfect chance." I say opening Cassie's cell door. We take back our weapons, head outside, and take cover behind the side of the docked ship. We spot Reptile, Ermac, and Erron Black looking over some dead bodies on the docks. We hear from their conversation that D'Vorah is the one to blame for the deaths of the soldiers. As they were talking Reptile must have gotten our sent and warned the others. Cassie quickly turned to us to give her orders.
"Okay guys, standard diamond formation. Takeda, you're on point. Jacqui, bring up the rear, Kung Jin, air cover and Satoshi follow my lead"
"Alright" I agreed as Jin pulls an arrow from his quiver.
"You got it"
Takeda, Cassie, Jacqui, and I charge out of cover. As the Outworlders get into a fighting stance, Kung Jin lets loose an arrow that hits at their feet, unleashing a cloud of blue gas into the air and allowing us to move in and pick our targets. I follow Cassie who goes after Ermac and help her fight him. But even with two against one Ermac is more powerful than us both. He easily picks me up with his soul powers and throws me to the ground, he faceplants Kung Jin with a telekinetic slam, blasts Jacqui right down the docks with me, and knocks Cassie's gun from her hand and levitating her into the air. Before Ermac can finish her, Takeda grapples him in a chokehold, breaking the energies keeping Cassie in the air. She falls unconscious, and Ermac is unable to use his powers against Takeda while grappling.
I shift my focus toward the unconscious Jacqui in front of me making sure she didn't get hurt too badly from the blast as Cassie helps Jin stand up. By the time we get up, Takeda has defeated Ermac.
"I think I've had enough of Outworld." Takeda said and Jacqui agreed.
"I'm starting to get why my dad retired."
"We have to find D'Vorah. Get the amulet back" Cassie says getting our attention back to the task.
"Let's go. They won't be out long." Kung Jin says and we all head to a safe location away from any eyes that could spot us.
