Part 8

We head back into the Kuatan jungle and head deep into the jungle to hide as the teams call their superiors and think of where D'Vorah might be going with the amulet.

"Hey I got a signal" Takeda says showing his communicator. They call someone and I hear a voice from the other side of the device.

"Takeda? What happened are you alright?" Takeda then proceeds to explain to the man that I assumed was his father the whole situation up until now.

"We're all in one piece. No one seems to be tailing us."

"Have you been able to determine where D'Vorah was headed?" Asked the man from the other side.

"We think she's headed for the Sea of Blood." Takeda says and then we hear another voice over the communicator.

"Damn! She's coming here. To Quan Chi. There's a secret portal near the Sea of Blood. Quan Chi had it built when we were getting' ready to invade Outworld."

"Dad? What are you doing? Why are you in the Netherrealm?"

"Well, now who's being overprotective?" The man said and I decided to take a step back and go rest against a tree while they talked. Kung Jin noticed and came to ask if I was alright from the scuffle before. I told him that I had been through worse in the Netherrealm.

"I don't mean only the fight back there but also the whole situation. Losing someone isn't easy... and now you have to run from the place you called home for almost a decade."

"I don't really mind the moving away. I somewhat want to go back to Earthrealm and as for my loss well, I still don't know how to feel entirely. I took my anger out during my fight with the Tarkatans but I haven't really mourned her passing"

"If you need anything even someone to talk I'm here"

"Thank you"

"Guys I got a trail on D'Vorah she passed through here" Jacqui exclaimed and we followed her trail all the way to the Makeba Cliffs which weren't far but eventually we lost her trail.

"We need to report to the general" Cassie said and took out her own communicator.

"Cage, report." We hear from the other side of the com

"We haven't caught up to D'Vorah. We had her tracked to the Makeba

Cliffs, but then her trail went cold."

"Damn"

"Jacqui thinks D'Vorah's unique physiology may allow us to pinpoint her location. She's retooling her smart-comm. to track D'Vorah's pheromones"

"How long?"

"She has to write the code. We're looking at... two hours?"

"Sergeant, your team doesn't have two hours. We need her found immediately!" There was a small pause after that but the general continued shortly after.

"Cassie, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but there isn't time. Bring your team back here, we need to re-group and re-deploy." The woman on the other side says with a much kinder tone than before.

"Yes, ma'am." Cassie hangs up and notifies the whole team.

"Was that your mom?" I ask bluntly shocking Cassie and making the rest laugh.

"Yes, why?"

"Does anyone in this team not have a parent in the military?"

"Yeah me." Kung Jin says as the rest laugh from my confusion. After that Jacqui works on opening a portal to Earthrealm and when she does we step inside.
