AN: This takes place after Pearl and Amethyst's fight at the Kindergarten.

Pearl's POV

As Steven rambled on about Amethyst and his's No Home Boys-esc adventures, all I could focus on was the broken demeanor Amethyst had adopted. She stood still and stared down at nothingness while we were brought back home. Once we arrived she immediately ran to her room, not even returning Garnet's greeting. Garnet and I shared pleasantries for a time before we both retired to our rooms for the night. I thoroughly attempted to focus on anything but Amethyst. I even tried to sleep but it eluded me. Everytime I closed my eyes I found myself staring into those broken purple orbs of my dear friend. My mind was filled with questions about Amethyst. Has she always felt this way? Have I been wounding her all this time with my bitter talk of the Kindergarten? To be fair, the Kindergarten has never been a good thing. Just because I speak ill of where she came from, doesn't mean I dislike her. She's my friend and I love her dearly. I do, don't I? I've never really thought much about it.

Just as I begin to slumber, I hear a muffled sob come from outside my door. Could it be Amethyst? I quietly get out of my bed and press my ear to the door, and hear footsteps across the living room floor. What could she possibly be doing? What if she leaves? She can't leave, we need her. I need her. I darted out of my quarters and nearly ran into Amethyst.

"Pearl! Watch where you're going!" she said.

"I-I'm sorry, Amethyst I was just...um...I thought I heard something." I said, composing myself.

"Well, you didn't so next time don't go crashing around the place, will you?!" she said bitterly before she turned away. But it was too late, I had already seen the tear tracks streaking her face.

                "Amethyst...are you alright?"

                "Never been better."

"I think we need to talk. I had no idea you felt that way. I didn't mean to hurt you, I always just—"

"You always just think of yourself! You never wonder what your words could be doing! You think that everything you say is right but its not. You aren't always right, as hard as that might be to believe," she stated with stone cold eyes.

"Amethyst, I understand. Let me help—"

"No! You don't understand! You're little miss perfect and everybody loves you! Nobody loves me! I'm the accident! I know what you think, Pearl. I'd have to be a fool to think that you cared about me," she says as I stare at her in disbelief before crouching to meet her eyes straight on.

"Amethyst, no...I..you mean so much to the team. To me. Amethyst, we all love you," I say, gently grabbing her hand. "I love you."

I stare at her earnestly, praying she believes me.

"If you acted like it, it might be easier to believe you," she finally said.

"How am I supposed to act like I love you?"

"Figure it out," she said pulling out of my grasp before she walked toward her room.

I grabbed her arm out of instinct, I suppose, and pulled her back to me, embracing her. She's stiff at first but she soon relaxes and returns the hug.

"Is this sufficient?" I asked quietly.

"Yeah, but you could do better."

I heed her words as having similar affections and lean down to place a small kiss on her lips. She smiles softly at me and then smirks.

                "That's it?" she says sarcastically.

"Amethyst," I say and return her smirk.

"What? I'm just saying." I roll my eyes at her remark and stand to my full height.

"Goodnight, Amethyst," I say turning toward my room.

"Night, Pearl," I hear just as her door closes.

I return to my bed with the reassurance that Amethyst will not leave the team, or me. Sleep finds me quickly and I am soon sound asleep with hopeful dreams of Amethyst in my head.

AN: Der you go, Cat. A one-shot just for you. This was actually fun, the question is, is it good? I don't know, you tell me.
