AN: Art college AU. Amethyst and Pearl are the same age and Garnet is 2 years older. This is kinda really bad in my opinion but yeah. I was experimenting.

Amethyst's POV:

"Hey Pearl!" I yelled as I tackled my dorm mate and best friend."Amethyst!" Pearl screeched, stumbling.

"What in the world are you doing? I am trying to study," she said, pushing me off her. She turned away heading toward her desk.

"Study for what?" I asked, peering over her shoulder at the photocopied book pages on her desk.

"My architecture course."

"What?! Architecture?" I said, trying to stifle a laugh.

"Yes, Amethyst. This might be what I want to do."

"That is so not what you want to do, Pearl," I rolled my eyes and flopped down on my bed. We started school here at Earthworks Art College 3 weeks ago and Pearl still doesn't have a major. She came here to improve her dancing but didn't even sign up for a class. How crazy is that? Now she's just trying a bunch of classes all at once. Pretty much every class but dance. I just don't get it.

"Hey Pearl," I said, sitting up in bed to look at her.

"Yes, Amethyst?" she said, still facing her study materials.

"How come you aren't taking any dance classes?" she was silent was a little while and then she swiveled her chair to look at me.

"I don't really want to talk about it."

"Why not? I mean, you came here just for that, didn't you?"

"Well...yes but...I just want to try some other stuff first," she's lying.

"Okay then, Pearl."

"I'm serious."

"Yeah, if you say so. I don't know about you, but I'm gonna hit the hay, don't study too much," I said before flipping over to sleep.

The next morning Pearl wasn't in the room. Probably studying somewhere, I thought sarcastically. I walked to the cafeteria in pursuit of food. As I walked through the door I heard Pearl laugh, its rare when it happens but its easy to spot after a while. I turned toward the direction of the sound to try and find Pearl. Where is she? I walked around for a few minutes before I spotted her ginger pixie cut. Who is she sitting with? I thought as I looked at the table Pearl was at. I walked toward them quietly. I snuck up behind Pearl and grabbed her thin shoulders.

"BOO!" I yelled. Pearl nearly fell out of her chair.

"AMETHYST!"

"Hey, chica," I said, sliding into one of the flimsy chairs in the cafeteria.

"What are you doing here?" she asked calmly but she was giving me a subtle glare.

"Getting some grub, what else would I be doing?" I stole one of her fries in the process of saying this.

"Aren't you going to introduce me?" I said, motioning toward the muscular, afro-ed woman sitting across from us.

"Oh uh this is um," Pearl stammered.

"Garnet," the woman, Garnet I guess, said for her. She nodded her head to me, "Your name?"

"I'm Amethyst," I stretched my hand toward her across the table, "Nice to make your acquaintance, m'lady," I could practically feel Pearl seething beside me. It was a bit awkward after the introductions. Pearl glared at me, I smiled sweetly, Garnet looked like she was questioning us but I couldn't really tell, Pearl smiled at her, and then glared at me again.

"Well...I'm gonna go..." I said as I hopped out of my chair, not before stealing Pearl's fries. Pearl sighed in relief at my departure. I didn't actually leave. I walked out of one of the doors, the one I came in. And then I went in the other door, because there's two in the cafeteria. I slunk in, trying to stay out of Pearl's sight and I hid behind the trash can nearest to them. I could hear them talking from there.

"...sorry about her. She can be a real pain in the neck sometimes," I recognized Pearl's voice...not to mention her tone.

"It's alright, I don't mind," Garnet's monotonous voice stated. "It's worth it if I can spend time with you," What does that mean?

"Yeah," Pearl sighed. There was a few seconds of silence.

"So, do you want to come to my exhibit this weekend?"

"Oh, Garnet. I don't know. Amethyst might suspect something."

"Does that matter?"

"Yes. It does to me...but I'll try to come. I'll try."

"Great...Oh no, I gotta go. I'll see you later?" I heard two chairs get scraped across the floor, they're getting up.

"Yeah," Pearl said. I heard a kiss noise, Ew, and then Garnet walked past me and out the door. I ran out of the cafeteria and down the hall as fast as I could. I had to get to the dorm before Pearl. I knocked over some guy named Lars who's in my creative writing class on the way but I made it on time. I waited for Pearl in her spinny desk chair. A few minutes later I heard the door's squeak as it opened. I spun around in the chair to face Pearl.

"Hello Pearl," I said and she jumped.

"Amethyst!...why do you insist on startling me all the time?"

"Because it's fun. Now the real question is...when were you going to tell me you had a girlfriend?" I said, cocking an eyebrow.

"W-What?! I-I don't have a girlfriend! What are you talking about?"

"Oh really? Then why did you kiss Garnet goodbye in the cafeteria?"

"I did no such thing! Wait...how do you know?" My eyes widened, realizing what I had let slip. I looked down at my feet.

"I dunno..."

"Were you spying on me?!" she yelled. Her eyes full of anger. I squirmed in the seat and then stood up. "You did! How could you do that?! Can't I have any privacy?!"

"It's not like I haven't done it before!"

"WHAT?!" oops

"I mean...uh I just uhh."

"I can't believe you!" she said loudly before she fell down onto her bed, her arm over her eyes.

"Pearl...I don't care that you have a girlfriend. I just wanted you to be honest with me..."

She sighed, "I know. I just didn't want you to judge me or anything. I was just...scared I guess," her phone buzzed and I saw the caller ID. It was Garnet.

"Pick it up."

"You don't mind?" she asked.

I smiled, "Nope! I'll just study or something," I visibly shuddered. Pearl laughed and left the room as she answered the call. I could hear her talking to Garnet in the hall.

It's nearly the end of the year now and Garnet and Pearl are nearly inseparable. It's cute but also annoying because sometimes they talk on the phone until, like 1am. But Pearl's happy, so I don't mind too much. I see them walking down the hall together rather confidently, talking and laughing as if it were just them in the world. They eat together and Garnet helped me convince Pearl to go for her dream of dancing professionally. Speaking of, Garnet and I are friends now too. They're a pretty great team. One time I caught them making out in the dorm though so that might be a downside but oh well. They're happy.

AN: I KNOW I KNOW IT'S BAD

I was experimenting with POV of someone not in the relationship and i don't like how that turned out but oh well. P.S. I'm on heavy pain meds so my writing isn't great right now anyway soo
