AN: Hey guys! This one is another Ruby x Sapphire. And its an AU. Mild cursing.

Ruby's POV:

Oh God. I gotta get out of here. Don't get me wrong, being a world famous rock star is great and I love doing shows but it does get tedious, being chased all the time. Tonight after the concert I stepped out of my trailer and was immediately bombarded by paparazzi and fans asking questions and requesting autographs. I love my fans but the paparazzi just really piss me off, okay? I would like privacy for once in my life. But with fame and fortune comes no privacy, I guess.

"Ruby!! Are you dating Pearl?" one of the paps shouts at me.

"No! She's my friend!" I say and then I push through the crowd to get to the car that will take me to the airport. Why do they insist that I'm dating all my friends? I'm walking faster and faster to get there but once it's in sight I see that there are crowds of people are surrounding the car. Shit. These are the times that I regret not having security at all times. What am I gonna do? Desperate times calls for desperate measures. That applies here right? I make a mad dash around the corner and soon I hear people screaming behind me, they obviously saw me. I keep running and turn a few corners to lose them but a ton are still following me. I eventually make it to a large shopping center but most of the shops are closing as it is nearing 10pm. Maybe if I enter a shop then they'll lose track of me! But what shop...like I said, most of them are closed. I see a girl shuffling around in a flower shop a few yards ahead of me. Maybe it's still open! As I get nearer I see a 'Closed' sign. Well crap. Eh, might as well try it. I grab the door handle and it swing open and I tumble inside with a crash and the jingle from the door. I sit up after a few seconds and see all the people that were following me either running past or looking confusedly around the center.

"I'm sorry the store's closed," I hear a voice tell me. I look around me and see a beautiful girl with long, blue hair. I stand up and dust myself off.

"Uh, yeah I know I'm sorry," I say and I look at her with apologetic eyes, "I'm Ruby."

"Hi Ruby..." she looks at me with confusion for a second and then says, "I'm Sapphire. Not to be rude or anything but why did you run into my shop?" I laugh a little at this, she's blunt but it's a nice change from all the people who tip toe around me all the time.

"I just need to hide out here until those people outside leave," I say, pointing behind me at the mass of fans and paparazzi outside her door, "I mean, only if that's okay. I wouldn't want to impose."

"Why are they chasing you? Did you do something?" she asks, the confusion returning to her face.

"Oh, no. Well, yes but nothing bad," I say, smiling a bit.

"Wait, are you who I think you are?" she asks me.

"If who you think I am is Ruby Star, yes," I say to her.

"Wow. That explains all the 'I love you Ruby' signs out there," she says, looking around me to see outside.

"Heh...yeah," I say while brushing my hair out of my eyes.

"But why are you running? Aren't you suppose to just love the attention?" she says, and folds her arms.

"No, I mean, I do love my fans. They're the ones who got me here but sometimes I just need a break. But there's also paparazzi out there and I hate them," I say and she laughs a bit.

"Alright fine, you can stay for a little while. I don't have anywhere to be," she says with a shrug.

"Thank you so much! I promise I'll repay you somehow," I say, beaming.

"Hey, its not a problem," she says as she walks behind the counter and starts cleaning, "And as for payment, maybe just get me some business, I might have to close this place if I don't..." she trailed off at the end with a look of sadness in her eyes.

"Oh...its a really nice place, that'd be too bad," I say, sitting down on an overturned bucket.

"Yeah, I know. I promised my mom I'd keep it open and I'd hate to break that promise but what else am I supposed to do, you know?" she says, looking away from me, "I'm sorry, you don't want to hear about this."

"No, I don't mind. I like listening," I say with a kind smile.

"I appreciate that but I'd rather not talk about it with a virtual stranger, no offense."

"Don't worry, none taken. I understand. My mother always told me, 'You'll never completely understand how someone's feeling, but make sure they know you try.' I know I don't know you but I'm a naturally caring person, what can I say?" I say to her. She smiles a bit at my gesture.

"Thanks..." she looks up and out of the store, "Looks like all your admirers are gone."

"Really?" I say and look behind me and sure enough, there's no one out there, "I guess I should get going then."

"Yeah, I guess so," she says, walking towards the door.

"Thank you so much for letting me stay in here," I tell her as we stand in front of the door.

"Like I said, it's no problem," she says, shrugging.

"Thank you anyway," I say. I have the urge to kiss her as we stand there so close together. I want to but what if she doesn't like girls? Oh well. I shake her hand and wave goodbye as I exit the shop and she locks the door after I leave. I head back to my trailer and phone my manager, I definitely missed my flight.

Teh next day:

My flight is in 2 hours. I can't get the thought of Sapphire out of my head. What if I never see her again? I know I could deal but, I don't want to. I have to go see her. What time is it? It's 9am, I'm sure her flower shop is open by now. I have my driver take me the few blocks to see her and we arrive within minutes. I thank my driver and rush out of the car and run towards the closed door of the shop. Sure enough, the sign is flipped to 'Open'. I swing open the door and look around for Sapphire.

"Hello, welcome to Blue Lily Flowers...oh its you," she says as she walks from the back room.

"Hey, I'd like to buy some flowers," I say, smiling.

"Well, you came to the right place. What's the occasion?"

"I want to ask someone out," I tell her.

"Okay, well if it were me, I'd choose these ones. These would make anyone say yes," she then hands me a bouquet of pink roses and daisies, simple but pretty kinda like her.

"These are perfect!" I say.

"Great! So you'll take them?" I nod and she leads me to the counter to check out. She rings me up and hands me the flowers.

"So who are you asking out?" she asks me.

"You," her eyes widen a bit, "Sapphire, would you like to go on a date with me when I get back into town?

""What, uh...when will you be back?" she asks.

"In two weeks."

"Then, sure," she smiles and I smile back, relieved. I leave the shop, still smiling and head to the airport. Two weeks. I'll see her again in two weeks. I can't wait!

AN: Not a lot of action but I think it was sweet. I'll try to write real fluff next time I write fluff. I hope you liked it!
