AN: I don't really like the way I wrote beginning of this one but it does get better once I decided where I wanted to go with the story.

Lapis's POV:

I'm not worth saving. I deserved to be left behind by the Gems. Jasper agrees with that as well. Why would they save me? I'd just be a burden to them. That's what they've always seen me as. A burden full of sadness and strife. That's why they left me trapped in that mirror. Alone, scared...until Steven saved me. That's why I have to stay with Jasper and Peridot. I must find Steven and take him home. He doesn't belong with those selfish, inconsiderate... calm down Lapis. It's going to be fine soon. I'll be free again.

Oh no, someone's coming. I hope its not Jasper. I can't stand her. The bars to my cell lower and the footsteps come closer.

"Lapis," Jasper said roughly as she entered the room.

"Hello, Jasper," I responded sweetly.

"Oh please, Lapis. Don't act nice to me. Everyone knows that you're a pathetic, whiny excuse for a gem," she said grimacing as she grabbed my hand. I winced at that. I should be used to her insults by now but I don't think I will ever get used to it.

"Where are we going?" I questioned as we entered the hall of Peridot's ship.

"You'll find out, now won't you?" she snapped. I stayed quiet after that. We soon arrived at a closed door and Jasper entered some numbers into the keypad. The door slid open and Jasper pushed me inside, following after.

"Why are we here?" I asked as the door closed once more, locking me in.

"We need to talk," she responded.

"Talk?"

"Yes."

"There is nothing to discuss."

"Oh, there's plenty. Now are you going to cooperate or not?" she growled, stalking toward me and pinning me against the wall.

"I don't want to talk to you," I said, trying to sound tough but coming out shaky. Jasper scoffed.

"Really? Well, I could just make you talk. Now couldn't I?" she said in a vile tone. I gulped nervously. She continued, "Now, I really don't want to do that. I don't think it should be necessary."

"I-I...okay."

"Great! Let's start, shall we?" I only nodded in response.

"Why haven't you tried to escape?"

"I have my reasons."

"And what are they?"

"They are none of your business."

"Tell me," she demanded and grabbed the front of my dress.

"No."

"Now," she said, frustration quickly rising in her voice.

"No," I said again and turned my face away.

"WHY MUST YOU BE SO DIFFICULT?!" she roared as she shoved me to the ground. I was slightly taken aback, she had never physically abused me before.

"Why shouldn't I be?! You haven't treated me with anything but hatred! Why should I listen to anything you say?!" I screamed growing more and more furious. I pushed myself off the ground and stalked toward her. She still had her back toward me. I grabbed her shoulder and threw her away from me. She stumbled, looking shocked. "DO YOU HONESTLY EXPECT ME TO TREAT YOU WITH RESPECT IF YOU GIVE ME NONE?!" She backed away from me with, could that be fear? I could feel my vicious side taking over.

"Lapis...p-please. I don't want to hurt you..." she said as her back hit the wall.

"Don't want to hurt me, huh? Is that why you threatened me and called me worthless, pathetic, an incompetent inconvenience...shall I go on?" I kicked her shin and she fell to the ground, shock and disbelief still etched into her features. "As far as I am concerned, you are all of those adjectives, not me." I walked across the room leaving her on the ground in the corner.

"Lapis...I just want to talk to you. Please..." I heard her slowly rise and walk toward me. "Please."

I turned toward her, looking her in the eye. She looked...apprehensive. She moved closer and closer to me and stopped merely a foot away. I tried to keep my stony composure but it was difficult with her being so close. She moved her hand to my cheek and watched me with concern.

"Lapis..." just as the word left her mouth she leaned down to place a kiss on my lips. I wanted to move away in disgust, push her away from me once more but I couldn't force myself to. I quickly relented and returned her gesture. I closed my eyes and kissed back passionately. I was still wondering what in the world I was doing but it was too late too wonder. We parted and I looked at her with questioning eyes.

"Jasper. Please report to the meeting room, as quickly as you can," Peridot's voice burst through the intercom, breaking us from our thoughts. Jasper looked stunned and annoyed by the interruptance. She moved away from me and regained her usual attitude.

"Let's get you back to your cell," she grabbed my arm, gentler this time, and took me down the hall to my cell. I would have protested but I was still too confused by her and my own actions to do so. As the bars closed behind her she turned her face toward me and smiled slightly before continuing down the corridor. I smiled to myself and sat down in my small cell, wondering how that had just happened.
