Your POV
"Y/N Stark. Surprised to see your 'back from the dead' ass walking through these parts."
"Nick Fury, surprised to see no one's murdered you yet."
He shrugs, sipping from his cup of coffee, "Some have tried. None were successful."
"Well you and me have that in common," I sit across from him, looking at the little knick knacks on his desk and pondering my next move. Fury sits back in his chair, giving me his full attention.
I am sure he can tell that I am wanting something from him.
"What can I do for you?"
"Actually, I need to speak with you and Monica. I know she runs the more extraterrestrial side of things and you like handling the on ground routines but both of you here would be useful." I take my phone out and text Monica to come to his office and it takes a few minutes of Fury and I sitting in silence before he breaks it.
"Romanoff is on a rogue mission I hear."
Chuckling, I nod and look down at my hands, "Yeah, that's Natasha for you. Got too bored doing your dirty laundry that she decided to make her own fun." I flash a grin up at him, to which he releases an actual laugh in agreement.
"Can't say I disagree. Fiery one, she is."
"Definitely, sir."
The door opens, revealing Monica who I stand up to greet but she pushes my hand away from the handshake I was going for and pulls me into a hug.
"It's good to see you. How've you been? How's Wanda?"
I tilt my head side to side with a shrug, "We've both been alright. Wanda's working on controlling her power, lots of meditation. And I'm..." "bored?" She smirks up at me, making me frown and blush nervously, scratching the back of my head.
"I-I wouldn't say bored, that sounds brash."
We sit down, her beside Fury and me across the desk while she just shakes her head with a teasing smile.
"You wanna get back in the game, don't you?"
Cue more blushing. Curse her for being able to know what I was about to say. Nick tilts his head at me with a raised eyebrow, "Is that so?"
Clearing my throat, I pull out some papers and slide them over, "I have a clean bill of health. Even if it's just basic recon, I am down for any of it...I need to get back in the field, Nick. Being cooped up in a home training for nothing isn't really my style. I'm going stir crazy."
Monica nods slowly and looks at Nick, "You're the director of ground operations. What do you think?"
Fury ponders for a moment, narrowing his eyes at me in thought. I stare back at him, knowing that he doesn't even need to think, he knows his answer, he just wants to see me sweat.
He reaches into a drawer and pulls out a file, slapping it in front of me.
"There's been word of a group of organized, unorganized fools messing around with stolen Chitauri equipment. Been causing quite the problem lately, civilians getting hurt, police have failed at taking them down each time. I want you on the scene. You take their Chitauri weaponry and bring them here. There's some names in there, the location, and as much background as we could get for you. Don't mess it up."
I smile as my fingers lift the file, an excited buzz filling my chest as I look between the both of them, "Thank you. I won't let you down."
"You have 3 days, Stark." Fury stands up, signaling for me to follow. Monica joins and I stand confident and still while he reaches a hand out to me.
