I looked down and picked up the socks that fell out of the bag and sat on the bottom of the front steps and put on my favorite and only pair of Jordan's. I headed back across the street and saw my dad talking on the phone with my uncle/godfather. I can over hear my dad while passing by him saying something about me leaving. I don't pay any mind to it as I walk into house. I sit by my great grandmother and check and see if I missed anything important. She turns and looks at me and she asks, "Do you know where you are going?"
"No Gambee but I'll go wherever my dad takes me"
Even though I ignore him and get mad at him all the time I still trust him. Gambee and I kept talking until my dad walked in told me let's go. I grabbed my stuff and walked out the door as I told Gambee goodbye.
I stopped my dad as we walked off the cracked driveway, "Where are we going dad?"
"We're going to your grandpa's house", he answered
"But he's all the way across downtown. How are going to get there? Wait, is he coming over here?"
"No, we're taking the bus there"
We started heading towards the bus stop and talked about my mother and memories we had about her.
We got to bus stop and I set our bags down and looked for the time the bus came around. 11:15 the bus sign read and it was only about 10:30. I turned around and plopped myself on the bench next to my dad. He looked at me and jumped up and told me wait here while he ran back to the house to grab some more stuff. He took off and disappeared into the darkness behind the flickering streetlight.
I pulled 5 dollars out of my back pocket and walked to the nearest place that sold food. Churches Chicken. I walked to doors and tried to open them but they wouldn't open. The guy behind the counter pointed toward the drive-thru window. I stopped at the drive-thru window and he asked me what I wanted. I looked behind me and saw two homeless people sitting and talking to each other on the bench next to the one my bags were sitting by. I looked at the man behind the thick window and asked for two legs and two thighs in two sperate boxes.
After Seven minuets of leaning on the window looking into the sky the man handed me two boxes. I went over to the bench where the homeless men were sitting and handed them a box. I stood and talked to them for about 8 minuets and went to sit down on the bench where our stuff was. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and saw a text from my friend Macaela. I starred at my phone and put it back in my pocket. I didn't want to text anyone right now.
