'GRIAN NO!'

I break free of Zedaph's grasp, running towards where my friend just died, waiting for him to respawn. A moment later I'm on the ground, clawing for freedom. Zedaph's dragging me back. I don't let him, twisting free and drawing my sword, glancing over to where Grian's now is. Relief fills me. He's back here. He managed to set his spawn.

'Taurtis please.'

Of course, back to pleading with Taurtis. I turn on Zedaph, sword slicing. He blocks, and I pull back again, dodging a hit from him. MCC and general escaping in this place turned me into a decent fighter, and I manage to hit him away.

Oh, notch.

MCC.

I don't have time to think about it, running over to Grian and pulling him back. There's no time to civility. I'm not letting him get killed again.

'Grian, come on. They're not coming.'

'No! Taurtis is my friend! He's my... my...' his voice breaks off. Taurtis has backed far away, utterly terrified. Mumbo's aiming his bow at me. Zedaph's got to his feet. We're surrounded.

'Grian, listen to me.' I look him in the eyes. 'If it was the creators that made him forget everything, we're going to get our own back at them. Then we can come back and get Taurtis and Mumbo out. I promise.'

'They want you dead, Grian. Now that you know about them. They want you dead.' Zedaph adds with a grin.

'They already wanted me dead.' He spits back. 'So not much has changed there.'

'We're going to leave you now.' I cut in slowly, stepping towards Zedaph. 'You can go back to whatever else you're doing. We're sorry for disturbing you.'

He doesn't let us past.

'Kill him and you can escape.' Replies Zedaph. I look between him and Grian.

'There's no way I'm doing what you say. Grian's my friend. You're just a psychopath.'

'Mumbo, shoot them.'

Crap.

I forgot about Mumbo.

The moustached hermit draws his bow, an arrow aimed at Grian. I take out mine in return. I know he's on his last life. I know Grian's going to be devastated. But right now there's no other option.

'Back down, Mumbo.' I snarl. Grian looks between us, caught with no solution. 'If you shoot, you're dead. And you're on your last life.'

'DO IT!' Zedaph yells. Mumbo doesn't. Stalemate. Grian notices my bow. He takes out his own, aiming at Zedaph.

'Let us go.' He snaps. 'We've done nothing wrong.'

'Mumbo, I SAID SHOOT THEM!'

'N...No!' He bursts out, stepping back. 'I can't kill Grian again.' Horrified surprise fills Zedaph's face.

'It's a 3v1, Zedaph. You can't beat us.' I smile as I turn on Zedaph. Mumbo does the same.

'No.' Taurtis speaks, drawing a sword. My heart sinks again. He's going to join Zedaph. I know he is.

'It's 4v1.'

He steps in line with the rest of us. Zedaph looks between our group. I glance over at Grian, Mumbo and Taurtis.

'Now,' Grian begins. 'If you think that the creators are going to stand between me and the way out of this place, then rest assured, they will NEVER stop me. They didn't in Evo, and they won't now. So F**K OFF, and let us go without us having to kill you.'
