Demi
I gently pushed my earring through the hole in the lobe of my ear, glancing at Wilmer through my vanity mirror as he fastened his shirt. The earrings were an anniversary gift from him, they're a gift that I adore. I wear them so often. I glanced down for a moment, jumping when I felt fingers on my shoulders. I glanced back up at Wilmer through the mirror, flashing him a light smile as his fingers lightly dug in.
"You look beautiful, Baby" I slowly turned to face him, smiling lightly as he leant down to kiss me.
"You don't look too bad yourself" he laughed against my lips. I bit down slightly on my lip when he pulled away. He took a hold of my hand and began to play with the rings on my finger. "Are you sure you want to go tonight?" he seemed to jump from his staring at my hand, to glance up and meet my gaze. He nodded, flashing me a light smile as he released my hand and he rubbed his on his pants.
"It'll be nice to get to know our neighbour. It'll be nice for you to get to know some other people too" he lightly combed his fingers through my hair. "You don't really have that many friends, Nena. It'll be good for you, for us" I nodded as I glanced down, not wanting him to see that his statement hurt. He removed his fingers from my hair. I fiddled with my fingers as I glanced up to stare at his back. I swivelled myself back around on the chair and grabbed my necklace off the vanity. "You want me to do that for you?" I glanced at him through the mirror and nodded. His fingers delicately traced along my neck as he took the necklace from me. The light touch of his fingers on my neck used to excite me, it used to arouse me but today I felt nothing. There was no tingle down my spine, there was no reaction from the depths of my body like there used to be. There was absolutely nothing.
My arm was linked with Wilmer's as we walked up to Jesse's front door. There were a couple more cars than normal in his driveway and we could hear the gentle sound of music which seemed to be coming from his backyard. I gave Wilmer's arm a light squeeze as we stepped up onto Jesse's porch.
"You okay, Nena?" I flashed him a light smile as I nodded. He leant in to kiss my cheek before he knocked. My heart began to pound in my chest, my stomach suddenly filling with butterflies. I glanced down at myself, hoping that I looked decent enough for this sort of gathering. I hope I'm not too overdressed. I bit down on my lip as the door was pulled open. My heart froze in my chest at the sight of him. I suddenly felt like my knees were about to give way under me. Jesse's eyes momentarily met mine but he quickly glanced back at Wilmer. I want his eyes on me. I want him to notice me.
"Come in. Everyone's out on the backyard or in the kitchen. There's some snacks and drinks. Help yourself" I removed my arm from Wilmer's as he stepped into the house. I could feel Jesse's eyes on me as I stepped in afterwards. I bit down on my lip as I glanced back at him, his lips twitched up in a light smile. Wilmer began straight into the kitchen but I couldn't move. I was fixed to the spot by Jesse's eyes on mine. He leant in to me, his lips pressing to my ear, his eyes moved to the door that Wilmer had just disappeared through.
"You look gorgeous, Demi" my cheeks suddenly flushed, my heart beginning to pound rapidly against my chest as I held my breath, fearful to make any sort of noise. His fingers slid delicately along my back as his breath continued to dance along my neck. My entire body covered itself in goosebumps. "I want to introduce you to a couple people" I eventually managed to breathe as he pulled away from me, signalling for me to head through to the kitchen. I could feel his eyes on me as I walked, knowing that he was watching my every move made my body shiver, it made my knees feel weak. There were only a couple people in the kitchen, everyone else was out in the backyard. Wilmer was helping himself to a drink and introducing himself to the tall, grey man stood beside him. "You want anything to drink, Demi? It seems your husband has forgotten about you" I glanced back at him as he spoke, his lips having twitched very subtly into a smirk, his fingers once again were caressing my lower back. My eyes darted back to Wilmer who had suddenly seemed to have forgotten that I even existed as he conversed with the older man. I swallowed down the lump in my throat as I nodded. I watched him as he walked towards the drinks and I slowly followed behind him. My eyes roamed along his body, his biceps made my mouth water. "You drink alcohol or...?" I jumped from my stare, my cheeks burnt as his lips twitched into a smirk. He noticed. He lightly chuckled to himself as he poured me a drink, passing the glass over to me. "It's just soda" I flashed him a thankful smile as I took it. I kept my eyes down on the glass as my cheeks continued to burn. "Jordan" I glanced up at his voice, watching as he waved over a young girl. "Demi, this is Jordan, a friend. Jordan, this is..." Jordan nodded as a wide smile spread across her face.
"I know who she is, Jess" she lightly laughed as she waved him off. He rolled his eyes as his arms crossed over his chest. "Your books are incredible" my cheeks suddenly began to flush. "I brought your new release this morning. I can't wait to read it. There any chance I could get it autographed?"
"Sure. Just give it to Jesse and I'll sign it for you" Jesse and I laughed as she squealed. I didn't have to force the smile on my face as I continued to converse with Jordan. Jesse eventually disappeared and I was finally able to breathe.
