Ophelia barely heard as the vicar welcomed everyone to the ceremony.Ophelia barely heard as the vicar told of how it was a lovely day for a wedding.
Ophelia barely heard as the vicar spoke about how wonderful it was to see such a beautiful young couple beginning a new journey together.
Ophelia barely heard as the vicar loved the fact that herself and Xavier were surrounded by such a wonderful group of people, who clearly loved them.
Yet what Ophelia did hear was the question.
She heard the question he asked if anyone knew of any reason they shouldn't be joined in holy matrimony.
Yet she felt her heart crack as she heard the silence following that question.
She heard the silence as no-one protested.
Not one person.
Not one cobra.
Yet just as she heard the vicar continue she heard a voice.
"Wait!"
The vicar was silent as he stared at her blankly.
Ophelia looked around at the crowd before back at Xavier.
"Ophelia love... what are you doing?" He asked quietly, trying not to freak that she had just halted the ceremony.
"What?" She whispered back.
He raised his eyebrows in shock. "You just shouted wait?" He mumbled as he glanced at the guests before back at her.
Ophelia's mouth dropped slightly as she looked at the guests before back at him.
"I did?" She questioned.
Xavier forced a laugh as he nodded slowly. "This a joke? Like this is some joke you're pulling right?" He mumbled as he glanced back at Kieran and Raphael, who shrugged slightly.
Ophelia looked at her parents, who were giving her the most shocked and confused looks.
"Ophelia this is a joke right?" Xavier grumbled again, getting sterner slightly.
Ophelia turned and faced him again before nodding.
"Yeah... yeah this is a joke."
Relief flushed across his face as he smiled at her before turning back to the vicar slowly. Yet she pulled her hands from him.
"This is all just one big joke." She said as she reached her hands down and grabbed the front of her dress.
Before anyone could question her she took off. Her heels clicked on the stone aisle floor as she ran along.
"OPHELIA!" Xavier's shouts were heard as she pushed the church doors open and burst out.
The moment she stepped through the arch and out into the sunlight everything felt lighter. She felt lighter.
Yet before she could run any further she felt a hand grip her arm, spinning her around. Xavier glared down at her.
"Ophelia! What the hell are you doing?!" He practically shouted at her.
A smile came on her face. "Running from a guy wanting to marry me for my family's money." She said as her parents appeared in the doorway.
They both looked shocked, confused and somewhat annoyed hearing her statement. They turned to Xavier who began shaking his head quickly as he held up his hands.
"No no no it's not like that! It's never been about the money!"
Ophelia nodded quickly. "Oh it has and I know you were involved with my ring being stolen."
Xavier turned his head to her. "I wasn't! I found it!" He snapped.
Ophelia shook her head as the smile stayed on her face. "No, you let either Kieran or Raphael in to take it. Thinking it all over there was only one person I told what I'd heard them say that night."
Xavier looked confused.
"And it wasn't you." She bit.
"It must have been, how else would I have known?" He snapped at her.
"They told you. And believe me it wasn't you."
Xavier scoffed. "So who did you tell them aye?" He snapped.
Ophelia smiled as she took a few steps back, still holding her dress up.
"Eyeball Chambers."
Her smile grew as she turned quickly and started running.
People stopped and stared as they saw her run through the streets of Castle Rock.
She ran.
Oh how she ran.
Yet just as she began to run across a road she was quickly yanked back.
A car sped past as she stumbled slightly in her heels as her long dress for a little caught.
She was steadied as she turned and saw a very apologetic looking Eyeball.
The cobras all stood groaning behind him.
Ophelia couldn't stop herself.
One hand let go of her dress as she brought her hand up and it came smashing down onto his cheek.
"Okay.." Eyeball groaned as he held his now stinging cheek. "I deserved that." He mumbled.
The cobras coiled back in shock as they all felt the harsh slap he'd just received.
Ophelia's glare softened as he straightened up and faced her.
"Ophelia-" He started.
Yet what was going to be his big speech was interrupted by her grabbing his face in her hands and smashing her lips on his.
He was incredibly confused but wasn't about to complain.
His arms wrapped around her waist as he held her tight against him.
Their lips moved in sync as the cobras let them have their moment, somewhat confused by how quickly she'd gone from slapping him to almost devouring him.
"OPHELIA!"
Ophelia and Eyeball pulled their lips apart but kept their arms wrapped tight around each other as they all turned and saw Xavier, her parents, Kieran and Raphael and a few of their guests rushing over.
Ace and the other cobras quickly moved, creating a barrier between the couple and the newcomers.
"You lost." Ace said with a smirk as Xavier came to a stop in front of him.
"Ophelia dear come here now." Ophelia's mother said, reaching her arm out.
Ophelia shook her slightly as she kept her arms tight around Eyeball.
"She ain't going nowhere." Billy said shaking her head.
"Princess... please..." Her father begged as he pushed past Xavier.
Ophelia stared at him with an apologetic look as she shook her head slightly against Eyeball. The feeling of his arms locked around her gave her the mass confidence boost she needed.
"You can't seriously want a life with him?!" Xavier practically snapped as he stepped closer.
Ophelia gripped Eyeball's shirt tight as Ace and Charlie stepped closer to Xavier, refusing to back down from the block they'd made.
"Ophelia sweetheart, we can talk about this." Her mother said as she tried stepping closer but was stopped by Vince and Fuzzy.
Ophelia knew none of the cobras would hurt her parents but the threat of them was enough to make them back down.
