Four Weeks Later

I also forgot to mention that I will write as though Tanya, Jim, Louise and Matt live really close to Alfie and Zoe because it's pretty hard to know where exactly in the country they live. Xx

We were back at home after two weeks in Dubai. I'd been sick earlier that day AND this morning, and had the same yesterday. There was a feeling in the back of my mind that this wasn't a stomach bug.
"Alfie, it's fine. Go!" I said, leaning next to the toilet. "I don't think I'm going to be sick again. Go to Jim and Tanya's, they need you to be there by 10 for the video."
"I'd prefer to stay here... But if you're sure, Zozeebo." He kissed my head and left.
After a few moments I hoisted myself up and walked steadily over to the basin, where I brushed my teeth. I was going out and I needed Louise.
"Louise?"
"Zoeee! Are you okay? Been sick again?"
"Yes. I think I might be pregnant, can you come with me to buy a test?"
"Sure!" Louise said, her voice full of sympathy. "There in half an hour."
We went to my local pharmacy. Elizabeth, the girl behind the desk, gave me three kits, because we were good friends, two for free. Darcy sat in the back burbling about Frozen and the second we got home we set about reading the instructions. It was a new one which told you how many weeks you were.
"So, I'll leave you to it..." Louise motioned for me to go into the bathroom.
A minute later I returned.
"What does it mean when there are two blue lines?" I asked.
"Oh my God. You are so pregnant."
"Wait... It says four weeks next to it."
"That's your wedding night!" Louise nudged me. "Alfie did a good job then."
"Shut up!"
I thought I'd be nervous, upset, but instead I was happy. I lifted Darcy into my arms for a hug and whirled her around.
Then I called Alfie.
"Alfie, are you still there?"
"I'm on my way home. Ten minutes away or so."
"Okay." I told Louise. "I'm telling no one else and neither are you. The next nine weeks we will keep silent. Darcy doesn't know. She won't blab. Just you, me and Alfie."
Louise nodded and left me alone.
I told Alfie at the door. He looked at me casually, then he turned around and walked to the car.
"Alfie!" I yelled. "Look, I'm sorry, okay?"
He didn't reply. Instead he reached into the passenger seat and brought out a beautiful pot plant filled with red roses.
"I bought this for you. Thank you. I had my suspicions. I also bought a test for you, but I guess it's not necessary."
"I'll do it to be sure."
It was positive.
"Right. Tomorrow, doctors." I said determinedly.
