Earth - October 8th, 2552

A retired ODST, now a Naval Officer with the rank of Captain, prepared her uniform. Despite being well over sixty, her hair was as black as night and her skin was as smooth as a young woman's. Piercing blue eyes looked into the mirror as she adjusted her hat. . .

Sapphire Andria prepared to head for the bridge of the station, only for someone to barge into her quarters.

Sapphire: For the last time, would it kill you to knock, Amethyst?

Her blue eyes met the unnatural violet of her great-niece. . .

Corporal Elizabeth 'Amethyst' Rose.

The young woman had raven hair too, except she dashed it with lavender highlights. Beyond that, the twenty-year old simply looked like a younger version of her great-aunt.

Sapphire: Go fix your hair.

Amethyst: I wear a helmet, no one's gonna see it.

Sapphire: That's an order.

Amethyst: An order I'm disobeying!

Sapphire: (Sighs) Well, I don't see your helmet right now, do I?

Amethyst: (Gasps) This is how you treat your dear niece who just got back from what was basically a suicide mission?

Sapphire: (Rolls eyes) How'd it go?

The trooper took a seat on the officer's bed, falling back and staring up to the ceiling.

Amethyst: No one died, for once.

Sapphire: That's good. . . Well, what's got you all down in the dumps then?

Amethyst: I'm just. . . Ugh. Aren't you just tired of all this? The war? The Covenant? Everything?

The Officer chuckled and moved over to her calendar, crossing off the day before glancing over to a picture hanging on the wall.

The picture was of three sisters.

Emerald, Ruby, and Sapphire. . .

Sapphire: Elizabeth, I've been fighting this war since before you were even born. Everyone is tired of fighting this war. Even you greenhorns. . .

The only survivor of the three sisters shook her head and flashed her great-niece a smile.

Sapphire: We just have to hold on a little longer, and then. . .

We can all rest.

Over a week had passed and the preparations for what would soon become the Battle of Mombasa were underway.

Lance Corporal Sarah Palmer was the last living member of Gamma-Six, and now she was reassigned to ODST Squadron Alpha-Nine.

As the brunette polished her helmet in the barracks, she was joined by a friend.

Amethyst: You know, I thought they were joking when they actually assigned you to us.

Palmer: It's been a while, hasn't it?

Amethyst: Eh, it's only been a month.

Palmer: In this war, that is a long ass time.

Amethyst: True, I guess.

Elizabeth began to gather her gear, opening her locker and retrieving an ODST class helmet of her very own.

Palmer: I'll never understand how you were able to get all that stuff passed command without anyone batting an eye.

Amethyst: (Smirks) I just happen to have the right connections. I could get you some decorations too, if you want?

Palmer: I'll be okay. Besides, you've done enough for me as is. You did get me a new squad after all. . .

Amethyst: . . . It was nothing.

Rose was the first to board the frigate, and the second was their leader, Gunnery Sergeant Edward Buck. He walked in, helmet off, displaying his combed brown hair and blue eyes.

Buck: What the hell did you do to your visor?

Buck: What the hell did you do to your visor?

Amethyst: What? You don't like it?

Buck: Seriously, who in armory is approving these things?

Amethyst: I'm totally not exploiting my aunt's credentials.

Buck: You know, you could've use those favors to get us better guns. . .

Amethyst: . . . (Laughs nervously) The thought slipped my mind. . .

Buck: And-

Amethyst: Do not tell Romeo.

Buck: There it is.

The CO grabbed a nearby Assault Rifle and tossed it to his second in command. She caught it single-handedly and placed it on her workbench.

Amethyst: It's not like you to ask me for a custom order. (Smirks) Not that I'm complaining.

Buck: Hot-rod red. For good luck. We defending dear old Mother Earth after all.

Amethyst: Alright, coming right up!

In just a few minutes. . . The ODSTs were going to drop feet first into hell. That's what they expected.

What they didn't expect was the Spartan down on the ground, fighting off wave after wave of Covenant. . .

Catherine-B320, one of the two surviving members of Noble was a force to be reckoned with. . . .

(A/N - I wanted to try and have this and the RvB story coexist in the same universe, but unfortunately the timeline does not add up. It would have had I not made Sapphire the ODST in the prologue, but it's too late to change it now.)
