Prompt - Tony and Steve discover their feelings and after a while Tony asks Steve on a date - tthisisawesome128

"Why do we have to do maths?" Steve whined as he tried to remember the rule to work out the surface area of a cylinder and failed, his head falling into his eyes as he rubbed them. Peggy sighed next to him and said nothing as she scribbled the correct formula on his page, crossing out all his wrong work.

"It's so that people like you aren't that stupid at maths when you leave school," she jabbed gently at him and Steve rolled his eyes at her before picking up his pencil again and working out the equation on his calculator, writing down the stages and got the answer correct this time. "See," Peggy gestured to the correct answer "You can do the work when you remember the formulas."

Steve grumbled, shrugging at Peggy "I still can't remember the formulas; I just have to hope that in the exam they never ask these stupid questions." He trailed off as the door to their maths classroom creaked open and a sixth former stuck his head around the doorway before pushing the door fully open and walking in to talk to their teacher.

"Hey, isn't that..." Peggy started and Steve slapped a hand across his best friend's mouth to stop her from finishing the rest of her sentence. She licked his palm and with a yelp he removed his hand "...the guy that you like?" she finished the sentence with an evil grin and Steve blushed till his ears were burning. Shamefully he nodded and Peggy crowed next to him before staring at the guys back and nodding in agreement.

"Wow," Peggy swooned and gripped Steve's arm hard as the sixth former turned around to leave the classroom and flashed his dark eyes over them, just glancing but that was enough to turn the two of them red and have their eyes darting back to their work. "Shit," Peggy hissed and picked up her pencil and pretended to scribble something in her book, staring hard at the paper like it had personally insulted her. "Is he still looking?"

Steve shrugged next to her, he too staring at his paper but hadn't picked up his pencil. He could see movement in the corner of his eye and taking the chance he glanced up to see the sixth former lounging against the teacher's desk, both the teacher and the sixth former staring at them and talking quietly amongst themselves. Steve cursed his burning ears and turned back to Peggy, tearing his eyes away from the sixth former. "Yes, yes they are."

Luckily, within the time it took for the blush to fade from the tips of Steve's ear the bell buzzed to indicate the end of the lesson and they both stood, stuffing their books and pencil cases in their bags and slinging them over their shoulders. They made a hasty retreat from the classroom, pushing through the crowd until they were on the field where they took their lunch on a small bench.

Peggy flopped down, her dark curly hair flopping around her face like a halo, and laughed freely into the wind as the rest of their friends joined them. Steve slipped into the seat between her and Bucky and quietly ate his sandwich as the rest of his friends chattered between themselves until Bucky elbowed him in the side.

"What's up buttercup?" Bucky smirked at him and before Steve could open his mouth Peggy jumped in.

"He's quiet because Tony Stark finally noticed him, blushing until the tips of his ears were burning." Peggy snickered and over Steve his two best friends' fist-bumped each other.

"Have I told you two that I hate you recently?" Steve growled at the two of them and ignored the way that they laughed at him. Bucky slung an arm around his shoulder, tugging him down so that his friend could ruffle his hair playfully.
