Toxic Lover

Tony Stark was lot of things, but lover wasn't one of them. He'd been called a lot of things in his life, genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist but never a lover. He wasn't even sure whether he was capable of loving another object, let alone a person. Tony sighed and stared morosely at the bottom of his third? No eighth bottle of beer that night and felt the alcohol diluting his blood like liquid courage, the faint buzz in the back of his head welcomed as the room span. He was finally okay, sitting there with a bottle in his hand and a dopy, drunk smile on his face he finally felt like everything was right in the world. (But of course it wasn't, his world was crumbling.)

He grinned, his head buzzing and dull at the same time, thoughts as high as the clouds. It was a familiar feeling, song and dance, it probably wasn't the best thing to do with a shrapnel damaged heart, but most of the time he couldn’t help the pull of a good, hard drink. The sharp taste of whiskey on his tongue better then any mountain spring water that the world could bottle. He'd been getting himself this drunk for years, ever since he was a teenager and it was always the best numbness he could resort himself to without stuffing himself in a freezer. His body felt loose, his mind at peace.

The city was alive with sound, there were lights flickering at every glance but all Tony could concentrate on was the big, brazen billboard with a familiar face on it, with soft blonde hair was soft and fine to look at but Tony knew from experience that it was thick and floppy, silky and luscious, the strands just falling between his thin, nimble fingers. His heavy set eyebrows that were thick and wiry, relaxed, farming those soulful blue eyes that looked like the ocean one that Tony would like to drown within. They were as blue as the ocean, as dark as a stormy night, they were a blue as his uniform as loving and caring as one could be. When Tony looked into Steve's eyes, he felt a little flutter in his chest that could almost be his heart skipping a beat.

'And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed to my neck

I'm falling for eyes, but they don't know me yet

And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now'

Tony necked back the bottle of beer and slammed it down on the table with a sigh and wiped his hand across his mouth, his drunken mind only registering one thing. Steve. It wasn't fair, life wasn't fair but if he was destined to fall in love with someone why'd it have to be Steve? Why'd it have to be a boy? Steve was perfect, how was he not supposed to act on his feelings? Steve was like that last bit of candy after Halloween, the best piece saved for that perfect moment so that no-one else can take it away. He knew that he shouldn't have it, but it was just sitting there, ripe for taking.

For Steve he would probably do anything, and that was just terrifying because he was supposed to be selfish.

The door to the kitchen opened and the light flicked on and Steve walked in without so much a look at Tony who was sat at the table surrounded by empty bottles of alcohol. He quickly got himself a glass of water and ice and turned to leave the room, Tony's eyes following his every movement before he turned around and looked straight at him. Tony flinched as those blue orbs. There was blue, then there was Steve blue; nothing compared to it, no fire burned brighter, no gaze more piercing.
