They say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember
You bury them deep deep deep down
Into the depths of your mind
They say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember
Then why are all my good ones,
Hidden behind a dark cloud?
The say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember
Then why are all that I remember,
Are ones I wish to forget?
They say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember
Then why do I not remember
The zoo trips
Going to the park
Coloring
Playing with other kids
But instead I remember,
Broken dishes and bottles
Punched walls
Slammed doors
And thrown doll houses
They say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember,
Then why do I remember the bad ones?
Then why can I remember only a handful of good ones?
Then why must I be stuck with these ones?
They say you forget memories
Ones you don't want to remember
But buried deep down
Is not the bad memories
But my innocence,
The shattered bits of it anyway.
