Last night I must have forgotten to close my curtains because this morning the light blinded me. Slowly I sat up and let my eyes adjust to my surroundings. I rubbed my eyes and reached over to my phone. I looked at the screen and saw that the time is 9:15, but that isn't what caught my eye. It was the date. I completely forgot. Its Christmas Day! I shot out of bed and rushed next door to where my parents... weren't... sleeping. It completely slipped my mind that they weren't next next door, waiting for me to wake them up. I forgot this wasn't going to be just a normal christmas. I wiped away the few tears that fell from my eyes and forced myself to smile. I went to the tree in the living room that had very few presents underneath and sat down in front of it. I'd gotten a few gifts off of some of my aunts and uncles, that came down to visit my parents a few days ago. My grandparents payed me a visit yesterday and dropped me some presents off aswell. They apologised for not being with me at christmas, but I just told them it was ok and that I didn't mind. But really I do.

I opened my cards and presents and sat down on my sofa. I had gotten a few vouchers and a bit of money. A couple of CDs and DVDs, and a little bit of makeup. I decided to make myself some breakfast. I went to the fridge and pulled out the pack of sausages I'd bought a couple of days ago. I went to the frying pan and started to fry them. When they were nearly ready, I started to make some toast, to make a toasted sausage sandwich. I put it all together and put some ketchup on it and sat in the living room. I started to eat it when I got a facetime call on my iPhone. It was Beth.

"Hey Girl, Merry Christmas!" She shouted with a huge smile.

"Hey, Merry Christmas. Wait isn't there like a five hour time difference?" I said back.

"Yeah why?" She tilited her head to the side in confusion.

"Its 10:40, isn't it like 5:40 in Barbados?"

"Yeah, so?" she said

"Nevermind. Anyway, how is it?" I say with a smile.

"Oh my god, it's great! How is it in the UK?"

"Not too bad I suppose" I say.

"That's good. How are your parents?" she says while tucking a bit of hair behind her ear.

"Nothings changed really. I mean you know that Dad's awake and doing well, but Mom's still the same. Still unconscious." I shrugged.

"Aww I'm sorry Jess. You ok?"

"Yeah, I'm good. I'm going to Jack's for dinner in a bit, so I won't be alone or anything" I say with a sniffle as I wipe away a tear in my eye.

"Ok. Anyway I got to go. My Dad wants to open his presents" she said and I laugh.

"Ok, have a great day. Bye!"

"Bye" she hung up. I went back to my sandwich and watched Tv for a while.

When it got to 11:15 I went upstairs and started to get ready. I curled my hair and put into a chignon with little crystal pins in it. Then I put on the dress that I had seen in the shop, that day I went christmas shopping. It is a red floor length dress with little patches of lace and crystals on and its strapless with a sweetheart neckline.

I decided I would visit my parents before I went to Jacks house so I put on my black stilettos and put the champagne for Jack's mom for having me, Jack's present and my last minute present for my dad in a gift bag and my phone, purse and my house keys in my little black clutch bag.

The taxi I had ordered about 20 minutes ago pulled up outside my home and took me to the hospital. I payed the driver and walked into the hospital, receiving a few "aawws" and comments on apparently how "beautiful and elegant" I looked. Not that I believe them however. I walked over to the lift that took me to my parents rooms and clicked the button. A small old woman got in as well and looked at me adoringly. I smiled back and she chuckled a bit. She mumbled something along the lines of
