Just Over 3 Years Later...
"... And I'm happy to announce this years graduating class. Congratulations to everyone!" The head of my University announced. We all stood up and cheered and clapped. Throwing our caps up in the air like they do in the movies.
I was seated next to Heidi, someone I'd remained close with over the last three years- something I was really glad about.
We'd already collected our diplomas and I heard Jack, Beth, Danny and all of my close friends and family cheering for me as I got up- but it was mostly the aforementioned three best friends I'd grown up with.
It was only Danny and I that chose to study at university. Unfortunately neither of us attended the same one.
Now Danny had a degree in both biology and physics and was already being sought after by a few companies.
I had a major in law and was most likely going to pursue a career in that field.
Beth started to work in a traditional cafe in town, although she still had dreams of opening up her own little place.
And then there was Jack. Not long after I'd left for university, Jack had been approached by a member of a major football team- after seeing Jack in a game he played- and asked him to try our for their under 21's team. He made it onto the team and I couldn't have been prouder. Now 3 years later, it was nearly time for him to leave the under 21's in hope of making it into the big time.
After I'd congratulated all of my classmates, I ran through the crowds in search of everyone and was delighted when I saw them all.
There was my Mom and Dad, Jack, Jack's parents, Beth, Danny, Izzy, Harriet, Callum, Lizzie and of course their two little children; Hannah and Bradley.
Hannah was the first born, now nearly two she was a beauty. She inherited her mothers light brown hair which hung in small, pretty waves and then she had her Dad's- and her Uncle's- dazzling blue eyes.
I still remember the day when Callum was told. Lizzie told him a couple of days after she'd told me and insisted everyone be there when she announced her news.
"Everyone, I have an announcement to make" Lizzie said, tapping the side of her glass of orange juice. I sent a comforting, encouraging smile while Callum shot her a confused look. "I'm happy to announce, that... I'm pregnant" she smiled gleefully.
Everyone gasped but me, but smiles soon grew on their faces. Although Callum's face was certainly a picture. His mouth was wide open, his jaw practically hitting the floor and his eyes were basically no longer in his head.
Claire discretely leaned over and smiled before saying through her teeth, "Honey, close your mouth you'll catch flies"
When he did, it must have suddenly dawned on him what Lizzie had said. All of a sudden his face lit up like the lights in the streets at Christmas time and he started giggling. Giggling for christs sake!
All of a sudden it was like someone had given him a happy drug or something. He'd gone dopey. He dropped to his knees before talking to the practically none existent baby bump. Then he started squealing and hugging everyone in sight.
It was quite a shock.
Then 18 months later, little Bradley was conceived, so he was only a few months old. He too had inherited his Dads gorgeous blue eyes.
"Congratulations baby" Jack said, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Thank you handsome" I said giving him a quick peck. And I was being honest, he looked ridiculously handsome. It should be a crime for anyone to be this handsome. He was dressed in a white button up shirt with the top two buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up to just passed his elbows. He donned a pair of black suit trousers and his hair was perfectly styled as usual.
