Riley:
"I'm home" I yelled.
Ok. So maybe I didn't live alone.
When my parents died, me and my brother, Tommy, lived with our aunt and uncle. Not a long time later we moved out and they bought us our own place. It was so much trouble for them when we lived there, so they thought it would be a better idea if we had our own apartment.
We've been here ever since.
I walked over to the kitchen after taking off my shoes and putting my bag on the couch.
"Tommy?" I called again.
He probably wasen't home. He's always out with his friends.
I stopped calling and took a peanut out of package infront of me. He always eats peanuts before going off somewhere.
I was so tired after coming back from the interview. I had to wait a week to see if I got the job or not.
Honestly, I didn't think I would get it. Hundreds applied for the job. Half being perfect. Why choose me?
Our apartment has always been creepy, but cozy. It was covered with brick walls. We had a small TV, a big chair and a couch surrounding it. The door would get stuck sometimes, and always made speaking noises, no matter how much oil you put on it. It was the 7th floor, low-rise. My bedroom was small, but could fit a desk, a bed, and some other stuff. My brother had the master. He had more stuff, important stuff, than me. But I didn't care. I was ok with the room I had. The apartment only had 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, which was enough for the two of us. I still wasen't sure if I would call it home though.
I went to my bedroom and layed down on my bed.
I needed a 12-hour nap.
Just when I was about to shut my eyes, I heard a creek. Everytime someone steps on the hallway floors in the apartment, there's an extra loud creeking noise. My heart started beating 3x faster.
"Tommy?" I called.
Nothing.
I gulped.
I felt a warm hand touch my shoulder from behind me. I immediately screamed.
I turned around only to find out it was Tommy. That son of a-
"Prick!" I yelled while he laughed at my terror.
"Not funny" I yelled.
"So funny" he smiled.
I rolled my eyes and stormed out of the room.
Forget the nap. I was going for a walk.
......
I took in the smell of fresh air after walking outside. The sky looked dark, as if it was about to rain. I started walking down the sidewalk so I could get enough time to walk before it starts to rain.
I walked through parks, streets, alleys, places I've never seen in the city before.
After about 30 minutes, I decided to go back.
That was until I realized.
I didn't know how to go back.
I got went through so many places, I got distracted and didn't pay attention to where I was going.
I felt a raindrop fall on my shoulder. By the time I looked up, it was pouring rain.
I swore under my breath. My outfit was drenched in rain. It was freezing cold, 10:00 at night, and I didn't know the way home.
I started crossing a street until I looked to the sidewalk in front of me. My eyes locked on a tall, muscular guy with the deepest dark hair under the black hoodie he was wearing. His head was turned to look at me, but he continued to walk. My pace started to slow down as I crossed the street. My eyes were locked on him.
I hear a loud honk. I froze. My head immediately turned to face the car that was only metres away from me, hitting the breaks after speeding down the road.
The breaks were no help, the car kept moving towards me and I didn't think there was enough time to move. I froze in shock.
"Watch out!" I heard someone yell from beside me.
I felt two hands push me away from the speeding car and I fell back on the sidewalk.
I fell face to face with the guy I was staring at on the street. Our eyes locked like they did before. He had big brown eyes that you could stare into all day. Our faces were inches apart. He just saved my life.
Before I knew it, he left the gaze and helped me up, running away after that.
"Hey, wait!" I called and tried to catch up to him. "Who are you? What's your name?"
He kept running and my pace slowed down, I felt pain coming from my knee and I looked down to see a long stretch down my calf, blood running down to me feet quickly.
I looked back up to see if he was still there. He wasn't.
I walked to the nearest cafe and sat in a window seat.
"Dammit" I mumbled while looking at the scratch. What was I going to tell my brother?
......
I crept down the hallway leading to my bedroom, trying not to make a sound. I didn't want Tommy to see my leg.
"Riley?" He said while walking up to me. I rolled my eyes without him seeing.
"Oh my god, what happened?" He asked, looking down at the scratch.
"Nothing. Absolutely Nothing"
But maybe it wasn't.
