A Merchant In The Sea Of Trouble (Scaramouchex!FemReader)

Extra Mission

Some days passed in Inazuma and Scaramouche gave everyone permission to start heading to Liyue but he asked you to wait till everyone left and you couldn't exactly tell why he asked. That day when he asked you to stay behind he also asked for you to go investigate a few fatui camps in the area of Narukami Island and Watasumi Island because of some reports of the some agents giving information of the Fatui to strangers that could potentially use it against the Fatui for quite the sum of mora. Your task was just to find out who were the ones who gave information and who received it then report it to Scaramouche saying he can take things from there.

After three days you were given the permission to start investigating because less people were in the base and you decided to start in the area you were most familiar with that being Watasumi Island since you had stayed there for a few weeks keeping an eye on the traveler and also keeping track while also giving the delusions that were being specifically given to resistance soldiers as part of Scaramouche's main plan in Inazuma. You made your way to your small boat and made your way to Watasumi Island and shortly arrived at the shore after first dealing with the little annoying never ending thunderstorm in Yashiori Island... You started making your way to the first camp which was pretty near since all of the camps in the Island are in the shore. Once you reached the camp there was a cicin mage and a few skirmishers, you asked a few indirect questions to see if you could get answers about the topic but no one said they knew anything but it looked as if they were lying but to not raise too much suspicion you gave an excuse and left to the next base on the map.

Onto the second camp where there was a Fatui agent and skirmishers you went ahead and asked the same questions but no one said anything and they looked like they genuinely didn't know anything about the topic by noticing their very confused and a little angered/annoyed faces because of what they understood. You found it odd how these specific camps Scaramouche marked on your map didn't atleast give hint in their answers. You were walking for a bit through the shore admiring the scenery a bit better since you couldn't really go sight seeing with the strict mission you had before and soon enough made it to your last destination in the Island and asked the same questions you asked to the other two camps but just like the rest you got nothing.

The sun was starting to set while you made your way to where you left your small boat, while walking you thought this trip could've given you information but instead you got nothing at all. You were worried that Scaramouche would do something to you knowing you practically failed at getting information but all you could do was accept fate since you can't can't from a harbinger. Soon enough after not finding your boat where you had left it you found it a bit further from where you put maybe because of the tide or just the fact you left it there without anchoring it but you anyways headed back to report this day to Scaramouche and hope you live.

You were at the Yashiori Island Fatui base entrance and saw a few more members leave to Liyue Harbor, you went inside and started making your way to Scaramouche's office and going there you saw that barely any people were left in the place and it was starting to feel quite empty. Once at his door you remembered that one day between the three days you waited that he told you that you didn't need to knock anymore when coming in so today you just pretty much barged in and there he was reading some letters probably sent by the Tsaritsa or other Fatui harbingers. He put the letters away and asked you to sit down, you closed the door behind you and went over to a chair in front of him and sat in silence for a bit.

"So what did you get from the info gathering today Y/N?" He started

"I started in Watasumi Island today I went through the camps you told me but I... I got nothing.." you looked down at the floor a little bit ashamed

"Im a little disappointed in you Y/N, I expected that you'd atleast get something..... now that I think a little more maybe you did"

"What?" You looked back up looking at him with a confused face

"I'll explain in a bit but first. In Watasumi Island not all the camps I showed you gave the information on our plans because some are quite loyal to the rules but the camps that do they don't exactly give the information to the people there they give it to a specific Fatui camp in Narukami Island, I noticed that when I went out earlier to inspect some of the members that left to Liyue and sent a letter to the harbinger that is in Liyue right now that being Tartaglia. I overheard a conversation between these specific members talking about a camp which is in Narukami Island as I mentioned before so you're going there tomorrow, I'll ask of you to give me your map so I can mark the place" he put his hand out to receive the map

"Wait so technically I went out and didn't get anything while you stayed here overheard a conversation and found some information?" You said while searching for your map

"This brings memback to earlier. While it is true that I stayed here and got information but you were the one who identified which camps were the ones who genuinely didn't know. So tell me, which one were the ones who could be the ones giving information by looking at their reactions and their replies?"

"Now that you mentioned it there were two camps that looked like they knew something and one that didn't" you found your map and placed it on the table and stood up to point the exact locations that you were going to say "The ones that looked like they were hiding something was the one on the north and south of the island"

"So I was right you did find something, very good keeping a keen eye Y/N. Now remember tomorrow you're going to Narukami Island and investigate the camp that I just marked on your map, understood?"

"Understood."

"You may go now."

You nodded and stood up from your chair and walked to the door.

"Wait, before you go, pack a bag of essential items for tomorrow before you go because the last group of members will leave tomorrow" Scaramouche said stopping you on your tracks

"Why though, if I remember correctly I'm not leaving with the last group"

"You're not going with the last group I just want you to be prepared for something"

"Alright? I guess I'll pack some of my stuff" You said and left the room

'What could possibly be happening tomorrow' you thought and made your way to your roomto pack the items you needed

Hi guys ik it's been quite a while since I last posted and it was bc I was waiting till school finished so I could post more comfortably but after it did end I forgot abt the story and when I got back I my first idea halfway done and when i got back the next day I had a different idea and also left it halfway and now today was like the 5th idea after forgetting for a while and decided to stick to it and here I am and I'll start posting more often again cuz now with this chapter I can get back on my feet and also have the motivation to write again :D
