Why does it feel like I can't even help her?

Earth 38

It'd been twenty fours hours since Ben arrived with his daughter on earth-38 and already things were feeling down.

Emilia had cried herself to sleep in her father arms as Kara's apartment which she had taken them last night.

Ben could only watch as his daughter let the feeling of sadness exit her body and he just wished he could help her. But how was he supposed to help her not feel the exact way does?

We see Ben standing in the doorway to Kara's room watching Emilia sleep in what was possibly the first time she'd slept in days, though Ben himself hadn't slept in days.

As Ben continued to watch his daughter sleeping peacefully, he heard a slight cough just behind him.

He turns to see Kara standing there wearing a patterned gown with butterfly patterns and she held a board that had two cups of coffee and two plates of eggs.

Kara: I thought you'd be hungry.

Ben acknowledged Kara trying to help him and took the board from her hands caring it over to the couch and sat down.

Kara sits down next him, laying her forearm on the couch, and curled her hair with her hand, she moves her leg just up the couch a little bit and picked up her cup of coffee.

Kara: So, just a question off the top of my head, you drink coffee right?

Ben laughed at this, picking up his cup of coffee and sipping it carefully.

Ben: Yes, Kara. I drink coffee.

Kara: Well, see I didn't know you know? I mean I know this one earth that didn't have coffee for years.

Ben: Uh, that would be earth 19 if I'm correct.

Kara: You've been there?

Ben: Uh, yeah. Yeah, I've traveled to a few different earths since I got my powers.

Kara: Can I ask how you got your powers?

Ben: Uh, well, I was working at this car shop and I was working on my car and it had been struck by lighting and I ended up in a coma and nine months later I woke up the second fastest man alive.

Kara: So, did your Barry get his speed first?

Ben: Um...Kara.

Kara realized that she was smothering Ben with questions, she didn't even realize she was doing until in this moment.

Kara: You know what, I'm sorry. I'm being rude.

Kara places her cup on the table and started muttering to herself until Ben puts his hand just a little bit below hers and her eyes met his.

Kara: Sorry.

Ben: It's fine. Yes, My Barry did get his powers first. He got his after being struck by lighting. He taught me everything I know about being a speedster.

Kara: That's why you look up to him so much.

Ben: Yeah, I wouldn't be where I am today without him. He was the only one I called family besides....

Kara: Your Kara.

Ben: Yeah. Look, I'm okay. Things are gonna be fine. Emilia and I have each other and that's all we need.

But in truth maybe it was a lie he was just telling himself so he could feel better. Maybe in reality he'd never be okay again. That holding everything in would make it so where he never felt pain again.
