As promised Jennie arrived that Friday with one hand holding Ella's and a duffel bag in the other. Lisa eyed her curiously."I brought you some of your old clothes so you can change before going home."
Lisa beamed at her thoughtfulness, "Why is there a whole bag though? It's only a 30 minute drive."
"I didn't know what you would want to wear," Jennie responded sheepishly.
"Thanks Jennie, that's very thoughtful of you."
Lisa went to the bathroom to change and tried not to swoon. She had brought all of her favorite pairs of sweats, even after all of this time Jennie still remembered. She was also surprised to know that Jennie had even kept Lisa's old clothes.
She grabbed a pair and donned them, they smelled just like Jennie. Lisa resisted the urge to snuggle them.
——Valentine's Day Years Ago——
Jennie was walking around the house with a tub of ice cream waiting for the food to cook— she was making Lisa's favorite. It was her first Valentine's Day without Lisa and to say Jennie was depressed and nostalgic was an understatement.
Lisa had always been a hopeless romantic and would never fail to surprise Jennie with some grand gesture or small detail or random dates. Even when they were in high school, very much unaware of each other's feelings, Lisa would produce some small gift that Jennie would have said she liked in passing to her months before. It always made Jennie swoon at the fact that Lisa remembered such small details about her.
Ever since Lisa had been in a coma, Jennie had taken to wearing Lisa's clothes. Especially around the house. So it was no wonder that she was currently dwarfed in one of Lisa's over sized hoodies, the pant legs of the sweats rolled up to make up for her shorter legs. She had curled up on the couch to watch Tangled. She had decided she'd do all of Lisa's favorite things in honor of her fiancée.
She had never thought much of Valentine's Day. She found it kind of cheesy and Lisa had never failed to make her feel loved on any other day so they didn't really need to celebrate it. She didn't realize until Lisa was gone how special Lisa had always made that day for her and how much she missed all the cute dates Lisa planned or all the surprises she always had for her on Valentine's Day until today.
She hugged herself with Lisa's hoodie and sniffed it. "Maybe I shouldn't have worn your clothes, they don't smell like you anymore." Jennie began tearing up.
That had been the whole reason she had started. When she couldn't sleep and wanted to be enveloped by Lisa she would put on one of her hoodies, wanting to be enveloped in her scent like that would make her feel like Lisa was the one hugging her.
Eventually she ran out of hoodies that smelled like her but wore them anyway, they were Lisa's after all. It was almost enough.
Jennie never once stopped wearing her clothes since then.

"Are you ready to live in your New-Old apartment?" Jennie asked trying to contain her smile because the pair of sweats Lisa chose out of the duffel bag had been Jennie's favorite to wear throughout the years. She hoped Lisa didn't notice how worn out they were now. She was pleased with herself because originally she was only going to bring that pair but she second guessed herself and frantically packed a whole bag instead, wanting to please Lisa.
"You're not giving me much of a choice." Lisa joked. Jennie rolled her eyes at her.
"I don't want to hear any more about that Lisa. Just accept it."
