Maxon's Pov

The high-end whiskey bottle hit the wall with a crash. I stumbled to the drink cart and grabbed whatever bottle was closest and threw the top off. Immediately I tipped the bottle back. America and I fought again. America should come knocking any minute from now to work things out. Two curt knocks came. Attempting to pull myself together I ran a quick hand through my hair and smoothed out my suit. "Come in." I called hoping America couldn't hear the Achol in my voice. The person who entered though was not my America.

"Get up and go apologize to your wife." Aspen Commands. "What was the fight even about this time?" Aspen takes quick steps to the desk that I'm sitting at. "What number fight are we on this week? America, your wife need I remind you, has constantly asked me to intervene. Though, when the queen shows up in your office crying you do something, so this is what I'm doing. I'm going to ask you this question, why do you constantly push your wife away and what are you going to do to get your wife calm?"

"Very wordy and long speech there genral." I say slyly with a grin.

"Not the time Maxon. I don't think you understand how upset your wife is right now." Aspen snatched the bottle right out of my hand splattering whatever liquid it was on the frame of my wedding picture.

"Where is she?"

"My office, but I swear if you touch, yell, or hurt her at all, king or not I'll have you killed." Aspen's eyes said he wasn't joking. "You are in the wrong and you will be the one apologizing not her, correct."

"Correct and thank you Aspen." I hoped my eyes expressed how thankful I truly was.

I left the room stumbling and muttering under my breath when I ran smack into the woman I was looking for. Her petite body hit the ground with a thud, and she dropped the picture she was holding. The picture was of us on our first wedding anniversary. The glass was cracked and broken. I was amused at how similar the glass was to our actual relationship. "Aspen sent me to find you"

She seemed nervous."Well you did."

"Can we talk?" I begged.

"I think I should visit Italy." She blurted it out seemingly not meaning to.

That hurt, she now how much I needed and loved her. "Please America, don't leave. Darling, I need you; I want you. Please America, you can't leave me. There were tears running down my face.

She reached up wiping my face with her thumbs. "I'm guess I'm better at comforting crying men than you are at comforting women." She ended with a smile on her lips.

"I guess you are" I said with a small smile

"Why don't we go to bed and finish this little talk in the morning." She gently tugged my arm toward our room.

As I was walking to our room we passed the office and there was Aspen. "He didn't hurt you did he Mer?"

"No Aspen, he didn't hurt me." She moved closer towards me.

"I would never dream of hurting her" I answered as I gently, but protectively wrapped my arm around her waist.

"Good." Aspen says with a wink. "Sleep well tonight you two."
