Maxon was sitting at his desk waiting for America to meet him for lunch when the phone rang. It was James and Kenna' number. Maxon moved to answer the phone as America walked in. He picked up the phone ands put it to his ear, "Hello?"
All he heard were sobs on the other side. "James, Kenna are you guys okay?"
"No." It was one word that sent Maxon into shock. "Kenna's dead." Maxon's stomach dropped as he looked at his wife sitting at their lunch table smiling at him. She read his expression and seemed to take on some of his stress. "Heart failure, Maxon, heart failure."
"I'll have a car at your house within the hour to bring all of you to palace. America can help you make arrangments once you get here.'' Maxon lowered his voice for the next part. "Do I need to call anyone for you?'
"No." James sighed. "You were my last call. I knew that you would be free at this time and I didn't want to tell an junior advisor who would tell America. She needs to hear this from you, soon, Magda, May, and Gerad were heading towards the palace as soon as the got ready."
"I'll tell her and thank you."
"Goodbye Maxon."
"Bye James." He put down the phones and rubbed a hand over his face then through his hair.
America came up behind him and hugged him from his back. She kissed his kneck and he turned around and kissed her forehead.
"Dear, I have something to tell you." Maxon pulled her in close and his voice came out as a whisper but it sounded like a megaphone to America. "Kenna had a heart attack." A sob escaped her mouth as she clung to her husband who pulled her closer. "And she didin't make it." The words hit them both like bricks.Maxon tightened his grip on her little frame and sobs shoook her body. Guards came in and Maxon couldn't let go of her to send them away. Aspen stumbled upon the scene as soon as he heard. No doubt the guard outside the door had gone to him as soon as America broke down. America held onto Maxon like her life depended on it and all Maxon could think was of how it must have been so much like her father's passing. The rest of the family arrived an hour later and stumbled upon their king and queen. Maxon was holding America who was still shaking they were under an blanket in his sitting room their children around them. America's head was burried in Maxon's neck and he could feel her tears run down his neck. She shook and had her arms wrapped around him not letting go for anyhting. Aspen stood guard in the room and hugged the all as they walked in and sat down.
Maxon kissed her temple and she looked up at him. Her eyes were red from crying and she looked so fragile like a strong gust of wind could destroy her. "Their here, dear." She looked up and saw her family and gave them a sad smile. I thought she would have run to them, but she turned around to face them, but stayed in my lap. I readjusted my grip on her small waist and kissed the back of her head. She relaxed into me a little and I knew we would all be okay.
