I want to redo Meeting Ekkio's parent's. Maxon is still the King.

Eadlyn's pov

The guard had come to inform us that Ekkio's family would be arriving shortly, nearly five minutes ago. We were slowly making our way down to the opening hall where we would receive them. Ekkio was nervous about how his parents would react to meeting the royal family. He had explained to me earlier that his grandparents weren't huge fans of the monarchy. He had warned me to not take anything his dad or grandfather said personally, they both had big personalities, the same could also be said about his mom.

As we entered the hall I laid eyes on them. Five people, his grandparents, parents, and his little sister. I smiled as we walked closer, the nerves racing through me. The ladies executed perfect curtsies and the men had fine bows. I shook each of their hands and offered them a warm greeting as Ekkio filled them in on what happened. Ekkio's mom Janet offered me a body crushing hug. After the greetings we waited for the rest of my family to arrive.

Janet was talking to her husband, Alexic, "I can't believe we get to meet the Queen and King. This is wonderful, aren't you excited?"

Ekkio was quick to remind, "Mom, don't hug the Queen."

"Why not?"

"Your hug would crush her little body, Mom."

"The princess is small too and I did not crush her."

I smiled, "If you think I'm small then my mother must be paper thin, because I'm a good two or three dress sizes larger than her."

"Also, mom, the Queen did just have a major heart attack and is still recovering."

Ekkio's grandfather spoke up, "How is the Queen. The entire country was worried about her."

"Mom is definitely on the mend, but getting back into the swing of things has been exhausting."

I could have picked out the loud voice from a mile away. "My Grandmother is here!"

Sure enough Aunt May and Grandma rounded the corner talking and laughing. They seemed to be in their own little world with General Ledger, Kaden, and Osten following shortly behind. As they approached General Ledger stopped as did Aunt May and Grandma to bow and curtsy.

I quickly introduced each of my family members and nodded for the General to announce his message. "Their Majesty's will be joining shortly and then you will all be escorted to dinner." He bowed and walked away. I assumed he would be my parent's guard for the night with so many unknown people in the palace.

Janet was giddy with excitement as she hugged each of the family members. "I get to hug the King."

Osten looked at Ekkio, "Ma'am our father is not a hugger."

"Mom, I don't think the King would appreciate a bone crushing hug."

Janet looked at Grandma, "Magda, would my hug crush your daughter?"

"Yes, She is a little thing, that America."

"What would happen if I did hug her?"

Aunt May laughed, "If the General didn't tackle you fast enough the King would throw himself on top of you to rescue his wife, wouldn't he Eadlyn?"

"Daddy definitely would be rather upset with you all if you crushed my mother."

Everyone laughed and Grandma said, "At least this visit is on more joyful terms then my last one."

"Might not want to make that joke in front of dad." Ahren and Camille were walking down the stairs. I ran to hug my twins.

"You are not going back to France. "

"Yes I am."

As I unlatched from Ahren and wrapped Camille into a tight hug. "Is he behaving himself, because if not I have some baby pictures you can bribe him with."

She smiled, "Unfortunately he is behaving."

I introduced them to the group and the introduction went quickly. There was a lull in the conversation as Ekkio's family took in all the paintings and art around them.

Abbegal spoke, "This painting here, of your parents when was that done."

"During their selection. Towards the beginning actually."

Ekkio spoke up, "It's one of the Queen's favorite pieces hanging in the hall. The photograph was taken during the selection, but the King had Miss. May paint the photo for their twelve year anniversary."

Aunt May laughed, "America cried when she opened that."

"Who picks the art?" Axel asked as he and Abbegal looked around some.

"My mother has hand picked every piece of art you see in the palace. About every five years all the art is taken down and she goes through and changes things. Though sometimes if she gets a new piece she will switch pieces out and things such as that. Eventually when my parents retire Ekkio will pick out all the art. "

"I'll just call your mother for help."

The click of heels and hush voices got our attention. Coming down the stairs were my parents, Lady Brice and General Ledger. Mom was holding onto the crook of Dad's elbow and General Ledger was on the other side ready to defend her safety at a moment's notice.

Janet spoke softly, "I think the Queen is well protected from my hugs."

Everyone quietly laughed, but the Schreave children were amazed by watching their parents work together. They didn't see it often, because work never left the offices, but on the rare occasion it did, it amazed them. Dad and his top two advisors were in a heated discussion with Mom peering on when a loud crack sounded. Mom's feet slipped out in front of her. Dad's papers went flying as he grabbed Mom's arm and the General grabbed the other one. They stabilized her as she stood up and returned to her place on Dad's arm. She peered down at her feet.

She frowned, "My heel broke, Brice." She smiled, "Aspen, if my husband insists on you being with me at all times, be a dear and get me some new shoes please."

The General relayed the message to the guard at the top of the stairwell. Lady Brice collected all the papers and Mom took off her broken shoes and handed them to Dad. As soon as the General returned the group continued to make its way to us.

Dad finally seemed to notice us and whispered to mom. Dad dismissed Lady Brice and General Ledger fell behind a step.

As Dad began speaking he switched to his king voice. "Welcome and I hope you've had a good time so far. I am so sorry to keep all of you waiting."

Mom hugged Ahren. "It's so good to finally meet all of you."

Mom looked extra tiny without her heels. If you looked closely you could see how tired she was. She was limping a little without Dad's support after her little tumble. Her scar from her vein harvest seemed irritated a little from the stress. Dad quickly returned to Mom's side.

A maid returned with a pair of flats for mom. Dad looked pleased with General Ledger for requesting flats. My parents greeted each of Ekkios family members and quickly returned to the middle of the room.

Mom smiled, "Ekkio told me that you were a hugger, Janet."

"Ekkio, told me not to give you a bone crushing hug."

Mom seemed confused, "Why?"

Dad whispered something into Mom's ear. Her hand naturally fell to her scar and rubbed it. She nodded as Dad kissed her temple.

Mom smiled, "Who's ready to eat?"

"Alright, everyone follow us." Dad turned and started the short walk to the dining room
