America’s Pov the Heart Attack scene

I was running late to dinner, and I knew Maxon would be nervous about where I was. When I walked in, I slowed into a more queen-like pace than before. Immeditaly all eyes turned on me, though the only ones that really mattered were the chocolate orbs of my husband. I tried to convey how sorry I was that I was late, he seemed to understand. Before I sat down, I planted a quick kiss on his forehead, he seemed to need some emotional support. I made a mental note to ask him about that later.

“Sorry.” I mumbled quickly.

Maxon turned to Eadlyn after the food was brought out and I looked to the right, noticing that Ahren wasn’t there. Where did he go, the large doors opened quickly, and Gavril walked in.

He bowed toward Maxon and looked at all the eyes of the suitors. “May I approach you?”

Maxon nodded curiously and glanced at me. I just nodded and continued eating only half paying attention.

Maxon suddenly had a look of disbelief. “Married?” He questioned. I looked to Maxon who looked straight at Gavril wanting answers.

“Her mother approved it’s been done, all legal. He’s gone.” Gavril finished as Eady’s chair pushed back. She moved far too quickly for me. Gavril stood there, seemingly not knowing how to handle the situation for the first time since I met him.

“Why would Daphene do that?” Maxon seemingly asked himself as he banged his fork on the table. The guard jumped to alertness and the boys stiffened. “Why would he leave? What was he thinking?” Maxon’s brain was in overdrive and trying to solve an unsolvable situation.

“America.” Maxon’s kingly demeanor had left in an instance when he looked at me.

I sat there like a statue, not knowing what to do. I looked at the boys who all had questioning looks in their eyes. I saw Kile’s eyes I knew almost as well as my own children's. My children were still here. “Kaden.”

“Yes.” He answered.

Take Osten and go upstairs, please.” I asked. Maxon seemed to realize his children had seen his outburst.

“But-”

“Osten Schreave do what your mother told you.” Maxon commanded and Osten even knew not to push his father’s limits. Kaden stopped and kissed my cheek on the way out, a gesture I was extremely grateful for it.

“What do you want me to do?” Gavril looked between the two of us.

“Is there anything we can do?” I spoke for the first time.

“No.” Maxon answered for him. Maxon stood quickly and I knew he wanted to be alone. I let him leave.

“Gavril.”

“Yes?” He questioned me.

“Nothing right.”

“I’m afraid so, Your Majesty.”

“Thank you, Gavril.” I turned toward the boys. “Gentlemen feel free to finish your meal, but I will ask that you return to your rooms until morning or until told otherwise.” I left to my office.

When I reached my door Marlee was already standing there waiting. We walked in and I told her that Ahren had left.

“Oh, America.” She said sympathetically

A sudden feeling of nausea came over me, then another, and another. I threw up in the trash can right beside my desk, Marlee was rubbing her hand over my back. “Marlee-” I was disrupted by yet another several waves of nausea causing to me once again need to use the trash can.

“America why don’t we get you to your room?”

“No, I'm fine.” I tried to reassure her, but the sudden lightheaded feeling caused me to faint and sure didn’t help my cause. When I tried to stand, I went straight to the floor and landed with quit the thud.

“America!” Marlee exclaimed.

I had a tight feeling in my chest and shooting pains in my arm. My body felt too heavy to lift. I tried to talk but failed.

“I’m going to get Maxon!” Marlee let and the pain got worse and unbearable.

“America!” Maxon came sprinting through the door to my side. Aspen was on his heels and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw me.

Guards started piling into the room and Maxon was becoming more distressed as I was slowoly fading from the real world. I heard muffled yelling and suddenly Maxon’s arms were around me and he was running. The last thing I saw was Maxon getting pushed away from me. Then I went to a world of total black.
