Pretending wasn't easy, let alone doing it for quite some time was exhausting, just so we could fool them. Acting like you were angry, scared and helpless at the same time would actually took a toll on you. It did on me, and added to that was the fact that I couldn't help but think about the possibility that what if it wouldn't work? The thought weighed on my mind, but I trusted Alex, that everything would work out just fine, and actually, it was starting to, as the first part of our plan had worked.
"How can you actually have fun Alexandra?" Clifford asked mockingly, "Look around you, you're surrounded and outnumbered, you couldn't stand a chance."
Alex snorted, "That's what you think..."
"What are you on about, Alex?" Amelia butted in from the side, catching Alex's attention, but she only smiled in response, and ignored Amelia.
"Untie them," Alex ordered, giving them a hint of what was happening, and one of the guys who dragged me beside Clifford eventually pulled a knife and started cutting the rope that binded my wrists.
"What the hell is going on?!" Clifford snapped as he watched me getting freed. He eventually aimed the gun at the guy who was freeing me, causing me to take a few steps back on reflex, pulling the guy with me, yet he didn't bother to stop what he was doing. "Stop! Or I won't think twice of shooting you!"
"Don't bother," Alex interrupted, causing him to point the gun at her once again, but it didn't faze her. "He wouldn't listen to you anymore, right John?" As soon as Alex said John's name, Clifford couldn't mask the shock he felt as his eyes instantly shot wide.
"H-How did you...?" he stuttered, unable to finish his question, which made Alex chuckle. I admit, it was entertaining to watch how Amelia and Clifford were tasting their own medicine now, and how Alex was gaining the upperhand.
"Here," John mumbled as he handed me the knife, and I eventually proceeded to untie Becca who was now standing on my side.
"How come I know John, you ask?" Alex continued, "It's actually your wife's fault..." the moment Alex mentioned Amelia, Clifford's attention immediately snapped to her direction. He slowly lowered the gun that was aimed on Alex, distracted and confused by the new information. "Amelia?" Alex called, "Do you remember that time at the fair, someone had kept calling you?"
"I do," Amelia answered, "I called the unknown number, but no one answered, I--" she paused when realization hit her, "it was you, you tricked me..."
Alex smiled, "The reason why Knowles and Noah couldn't come with us was because I told them to lay the trap."
"How?" Amelia asked through gritted teeth.
"Noah managed to get your phone without you noticing it, and hacked it the night before, that was how we got your number...He was the one who kept calling you at the fair."
"And I take it was one of your guys who switched my phone," Amelia stated the obvious.
"Correct. It was Knowles."
"So the trip was a trap," Amelia calmly mumbled, making Alex nod.
"And how did you came to know John?" Clifford's turned to ask.
"We found out through hacking Amelia's phone that she was going to meet someone the next day, so, we decided to meet them in person, though after their meeting with her was done...Turned out, she was meeting John Morrison...Joffrey Morrison's younger brother."
"But how..." Clifford uttered, a deep crease was etching on his forehead, before deciding to face John, "You...you let her fool you, John?! I told you she is a cunning bitch! She killed your brother!" Clifford snapped, accusing Alex.
