Alexandra
Looking at her sleeping face, I couldn't help but think about what went down last night. Up until now, I felt guilty for what I did to her. She wasn't supposed to be there, and see me talking to Knowles, and since she saw enough, she had already compromised everything. Knowing her, she wouldn't stop until she would get the answers she wanted.
Everything was my fault though, for not being so discreet. I just lost a bit of my touch when Mike had called me, saying he had found Knowles, and because of the little anticipation I was feeling that time, I didn't realize I was being followed, by her of all people. And now she witnessed something she shouldn't had, there was only one way to keep her from getting tangled further in my revenge.
As I drowned myself on my thoughts, I noticed she slowly stirred awake, groaning at the same time, and eventually pried her eyes open. As soon as her gaze landed on me, she immediately sat up, and looked at me in surprised.
"Alex," she mumbled warily, before looking around her room, "H-How did I end up here?"
"I brought you here," I answered blankly.
"What...What did you do to me last night?" she asked anxiously, and just seeing her apprehensive expression, caused my heart to constrict eventually.
I forced a stern look, "I did nothing but let my guy put you to sleep Lauren."
"Why?" she questioned, hurt tainted her voice, "What are you hiding from me Alex?" Instead of answering her immediately, I just stared at her for a moment, before leaning back on the chair.
I had no intention of answering her, and she didn't have to know anything.
I let out a sigh, "I heard what happened back in the office, Tina called me...Why did you quit, Lauren?" I asked, making her stern expression to falter.
"Don't answer my question with a question Alex," she retorted.
"Did your dad do that to you?" I asked, even if I already knew, gesturing to her split lip, and she avoided my gaze as she briefly touched the cut. I admit, when I saw her busted lip, anger had eventually simmered within me, thinking about the person who hurt her. I suddenly felt protective of her, and when I found out it was her father who laid a hand on her, I eventually fumed.
She clenched her jaw, and nodded, "He did..." she admitted, and though I already knew, it angered me still, hearing it from her.
"And why did you quit? I could tell you love your job..."
"Quitting was my only choice. He wanted me to get back with Ethan, so I could still be the CEO...and I can't do it, ever again...getting back with Ethan."
"But you love him..."
"That's...no, I don't love him Alex...I lied when I told you about it...Don't ask me why," she confessed, and I just stared at her, feeling somewhat relieved that she didn't love Ethan the way I thought, because it would mean, she wouldn't feel hurt leaving that bastard. "...I answered your questions Alex, it's your turn to answer mine," she spoke, silencing my thoughts.
I shook my head, "I don't have to answer anything Lauren, and you knew, you didn't have to answer my questions." Hearing my response, she eventually pushed aside the duvet, and moved to sit at the edge of the bed, lessening the distance between us, while glaring on my way.
"I want to know what you're hiding Alex. I couldn't sit still, knowing you're into something dangerous...Knowles is a dangerous man Alex, and you're involving yourself with him!...I'm just worried about you okay? You're...my assistant, I care about your well-being..."
