I stared intently at her back as she strode in the middle of the room, feeling impatient, and annoyed about the fact that she got a perfect timing coming here. Aside from Cliff, she was also the last person I would want to see, after everything that had been going on right now. I didn't want her to add to my problems, but since she was here, I got no choice but to hear her out, knowing the kind of person she was, it wouldn't be easy to make her leave.

"What can I do for you, Amelia? Don't you think it's a bit late to see me right now?" I asked, the moment she turned her back from me.

"I can't wait, Lauren...You've been declining my calls..."

I raised a brow, "Can't wait for what?"

"I want to know if you've seen Alexandra? Or know where she is right now?" she asked right away, and all I could do was look at her as I didn't know what to answer her. I didn't think she would be looking for Alex as I thought all this time she knew what her husband just did to her daughter, or even agreed to getting rid of her. It didn't help the fact that when Alex told me about her with pure hatred in her eyes, I thought she was up to no good since then, and it surprised me now that she was looking for her daughter as if she was concerned about her well-being.

Although knowing how unpredictable she was, it was too early to tell if she really was concerned about Alex.

"Why are you asking me?"

"You're one of her friends, surely you must know where she is," she demanded, making me snort bitterly.

"How should I know? You're her mom, but you don't know where she is, let alone me...I'm only her friend..." I retorted, eventually making her narrow her eyes to slits.

"What did you say?" she asked slowly.

"That you're her mom, and you don't know where she is," I repeated nonchalantly, but deep down I was starting to boil up, causing her expression to falter as she opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out.

"H-How did you know?" she stammered after a moment.

"Apparently, she trusted me with that secret," I simply answered as she slowly composed herself once again. She poised herself once again as if I didn't just said something unexpected.

"Then the more you know where she is, you're her trusted friend," she retorted, "...I've tried reaching out to her, but I got no response."

"Even if I know where she is, I wouldn't tell you if she hadn't in the first place, but right now...I know nothing, and like you, I'm also looking for her..."

"Don't lie to me Lauren!" she suddenly snapped that got me eventually taken aback by the sudden outburst, "You have no right to do that, especially to me, her mom," she easily added, which was enough for me to stop holding back as I snorted in disbelief.

"Are you for real? Don't use that mom card on me Amelia when you stopped being her mother long ago!..." I snapped back, and eventually lessened the distance between us, "I may not know everything about what happened between you and Alex, but by what she told me...you were never a good of a mother to her..." I added, noticing her surprised expression. Staring at her exasperatedly, I wanted to tell her that I also knew she married a killer, her former husband's killer of all, but I knew doing so would be a bad decision.

"Did...did she tell you...everything?" she mumbled slowly, but I didn't answer her right away as I looked into her eyes searchingly, but I could see nothing, no emotions, not even regrets in them.

"Why?...Was there something you did that was way worse than leaving your daughter?" I asked, causing her to eventually break eye contact, and stepped back, before meeting my gaze again, and shook her head.
