Chapter 11 - Will You Be My Mom?

[CHAPTER 11]

It had been months since myself and Christopher had gotten back together and life had been better than it had ever been, since speaking to my father our relationship had gotten better each day because of this i spent more time at the CFD becoming very close with Trudy Platt a very good friend of my fathers. She had become the mother i never had growing up and Trudy called me the daughter she never had i was the only person in the district and probably in the whole of Chicago that was allowed to bust her balls.

I had also become close with Mouch because he was Trudy's husband but also Christophers best friend it was Trudys birthday soon and me and Mouch had something planned at Mollies, i had decided that i wanted to ask Trudy to adopt me i know that I'm nearly 30 but we had always joked about being the mother and daughter that we didn't have but i wanted it to be official so i had spoken to Mouch and Christopher about it and they thought it was a great idea.

So after finishing an early shift at Chicago Med i headed down to the firehouse because the both of them were on shift "Hey Mel" cruz said as he saw me walking up the path "Hey cruz where are Herrmann & Mouch" i asked "Probably having lunch" Cruz said as i smiled "Thanks you guys coming to Mollie's tonight" i asked as i looked at the guys sat at the table "wouldn't miss it Trudy would kill us" Cruz said before laughing before i headed to the break room as i walked through the doors a huge smile appeared on Christophers face "Hey" Christophers said before getting up from his chair and walking over to me "Hey" i said smiling at him before we placed a short kiss on each other's lips.

Before i looked at Mouch "We all set for tonight" i asked as Mouch sat there with a nervous look on his face "I've got my present all ready" i said as i held up the envelope with a proud look on my face "and i sent out the invites it was up to you guys to sort the rest seen as one of you owns a bar" i said before turning to Christopher with my eyebrows raised "it's going to fine i promise" Christopher said which didn't put me at ease because don't get me wrong i love the man but most things involving him usually went wrong. "Christopher i mean it please don't screw this up" i said a little annoyed.

"I promise" Christopher said before he placed a kiss on my cheek and i left heading home because i needed to get the children fed before a baby sitter came over to look after the children because we would both be at the bar tonight so i cooked dinner before i headed upstairs to have a shower and get ready to head out once Christopher got back, as i heard footsteps heading up the stairs towards our room i was sat on our bed looking down at the envelope which i was holding in my hands just staring at it "you ok" i heard Christopher ask so i looked up "just nervous" i said downplaying it so Christopher walked over and sat down on the bed next to me before putting his arm around me "You know Trudy loves you so she is gonna love the suprise' Christopher said which made smile.

So i got up from the bed grabbing the envelope "come on then" i said before Christopher got up and we headed out the bar when we arrived there were police officers, fire fighters, doctors along with others who had come for the party so me and Christopher got behind the bar and began to serve everyone until Trudy and Mouch arrived "SUPRISE!" Everyone shouted as they saw them enter through the door Trudy with a smile on her face it made me smile because I had worked so hard on this surprise along with the boys.

"Happy Birthday" everyone then shouted before I walked over to her and hugged her "Happy Birthday Trudy" I said happily before Trudy replied with "Thankyou Honey" I said before we pulled away and looked at each other and went to sit at the bar. As Trudy opened her gifts I left mine till last before grabbing it from beside me "Happy Birthday" I said before passing it to her she looked confused but went to open it anyway.

As she pulled it out of envelope she began to look more confused by the minute until a smile appeared on her face and she looked over to me "really?" Trudy asked which made me smile "of course" I said as wide grin appeared on my face before tears began to form in trudys eyes which I hadn't seen before she got up from her stool and walked over to me before hugging me "Thankyou" Trudy then whispered in my ear which made me began to cry too. "Right first drinks on the house" Christopher said as he nodded to me to get back behind the bar so I gave Trudy one last hug before getting behind the car but as I was serving drinks Trudy sat infront of me and got the paperwork back out "Christopher do you have a pen?" Trudy asked and Christopher just pulled a confused face "am talking in another language no I'm asking if you have a pen" Trudy said sarcastically which meant she was back to her normal self.

Before Christopher walked off and came back with a pen before passing it to Trudy as she sat there signing it I passed another Envelope to her "what's this" Trudy said as smiled began to appear on her face "twice in one day what do you have that I don't" Mouch said which made chuckle before Trudy opened the envelop it was the paperwork for my name change from Melisa Marion Jordan to Melissa Marion Platt Jordan because I was too used to having the name Jordan as my last name but I wanted to honoured Trudys last name.

"lucky you said yes otherwise that would have kinda screwed up my second surprise" I said as Christopher came and stood next to me before putting his hands around my waist and hugging me before Trudy reached for my hand and smiled "here's to a happy birthday to Trudy" Christopher said as he stopped hugging me and grabbed a drink and raised before everyone else did the same.

"Happy Birthday" everyone shouted, tonight had made incredibly happy because I had never had a proper parent in my life since Trudy came into my life and Hank was trying which meant a lot, Even though he was thought in the outside I could tell he felt guilty for not knowing about me and seeing me grow up.
