"Ok, now when I call you, you come here and pick a name" Schuester said, while putting our names in a cowboy hat.
"Finn, get here!"
"I got you, buddy!" He said, pointing to Puck. Then he came back to his seat.
"Brittany, it's your turn!"
"I got Mike."
We went on: Santana was paired to Blaine, Sam had to sing with Artie, Kurt got Tina and Mercedes got Kitty.
"So it's just you and me." Quinn said, smiling.
"Great, we've got our matches!" Mr Schue said.
"Now I've got something for you all..."
He grabbed a ukulele and started singing us a song.
Forever Young. The same song he sung us last year, before graduation.
We sung it all together, laughing and dancing.
And then we all hugged. And I felt happy for the fist time, on that day.
"I miss you every day, guys. You all've taken away a piece of me." Mr Schue said, before greeting us and getting to class.
We all left the choir room.
"Baby, wait." I turned around and I saw Finn running over me.
"The guys and I have got to help coach Beiste with the new kids...I'll get back home as soon as I finish, I promise. If you wanna go, just take the car and I'll get back with Puck." He said.
"It's ok Finn, don't worry." I said, smiling and kissing him on his cheek.
"Puck gave Quinn a lift, so you should take her home." He added, and then he left me the keys.
Then he kissed me and run away. Before me even realising.
I had to see her. Again.
She suddenly turned the corner and got right my same direction.
I started walking away, pretending I hadn't seen her.
"Rachel." She called. So I had to turn back to her. And she was closer than I imagined.
"Don't run away from me. Please." She said, pushing my hair behind my ear.
"I have to take you home. Finn told me about their football thing and so-"
"I know." - she interrupted me. - "I came to tell you you don't have to. I can walk home, it's just about an hour."
"Quinn it's 5.45 pm. It's getting dark."
She smiled after hearing my words.
"It's cool to know you still care about me." She said.
You should know I'll never stop, Quinn. Never.
"I don't. I just don't wanna be responsible for you getting kidnapped or robbed or-"
"You still over-talk that often?" She asked, interrupting me again. "I don't want you to feel uncomfortable. I can walk home." She added.
I looked down. "I don't want you to." I said, blushing. And I'm quite sure she smiled in that moment.
"Cool. So let's go, I'll follow you." She said, so I moved towards the car.
"Are you staying at...?"
"My mum's house."
"Cool."
I started the car and we left.
While driving, I watched her with the corner of my eye. She was looking outside the window.
"Are you mad at me?" She suddenly said, turning to me.
"I could never, Quinn."
She smiled. "Do you wanna change your partner for Mr Schue's Let's-find-new-recruits project?" She asked, and I tried to hide a laugh.
"I don't want to. I like you." I said - clearly without thinking. "I mean, I like you as a partner. For the recruits thing, obviously. I mean, you're pretty good and our voices sound good too, and furthermore, we already sung together a couple times and we were good so yeah we can do that again. I mean, this doesn't bother me-" her laugh made me stop talking.
It was getting dark, but a few sun rays managed to pass through the car window and gently caress her face.
Yet her eyes were shining brighter.
"I'm glad you're not mad." She said. "We'll have to meet up, if you wanna do the duet with me."
"Yeah." - I paused. Then I took a deep breath. - "Let's meet tomorrow, after glee. Some of our friends are going to perform."
"Sue asked me, Santana and Brittany to meet the Cheerios, tomorrow after glee. May we meet a bit later?" She asked.
"I'll wait for you under the bleachers. I mean, if you don't mind..." I suggested.
I stopped the car right in front of her house.
"I don't, actually." She said, before smiling and opening the car door.
I was ready to start the car again, but she called me.
"Rachel." I turned to her. "I like you too." She stated, and then went away.
I knew what she was having a go at.
And I realised soon I was still into her.
