"Finn was here." I said, almost whispering.
I felt tension growing up.
"Did he hurt you?" She asked in a hurry, yet keeping a quiet tone.
I shook my head softly. "I wasn't expecting him. Just the thought of him makes me think of what happened and-"
She took my hand and slipped her fingers between mine.
"- and that hurts." I concluded.
She wiped my tears and looked me in the eyes. Then she moved her hand to my cheek, still keeping the other one in mine.
The hesitant touch of my fingers on her cheek made her close her eyes for a moment.
"Does it hurt?" I asked.
"Not anymore." She said, moving closer.
She stopped a few inches off my nose.
"You're with Puck." I whispered, looking her straight in the eyes.
"He knows." She whispered back. "I never stopped loving you, Rachel, even though I wanted to."
She got closer again. "I tried to make myself forget you, but it was impossible." She explained. "There hasn't passed even one day
without me thinking about you." She finally said, breaking the distance and pressing her lips against mine.
Sometimes, words weren't enough to express one's feelings.
"I never stopped, too." I whispered, after a moment.
Then I rested my head on her shoulder and she slung her arm around me.
I curled my arm around her waist, pressing the fabric of her blouse against my skin.
"Can I take you home?" She asked.
I nodded and we got up. I decided it was better to let her drive.
"Are your dads in?" She asked me, parking the car in front of my house.
"Would you stay tonight?" I suddenly asked. "Please." I added, looking at her.
She smiled and got out of the car.
"Hi darling...oh, Quinn! Long time no see!" My dad said. "Hiram, come here! Quinn Fabray's visiting!" He called.
"Hi Mr Berrys!" She said, greeting them politely.
"Rachel, darling, we're eating out tonight..." My dad said, getting closer to me and suggesting, in a whisper, to invite Quinn to stay for the night.
He probably didn't really whisper, since Dad and Quinn laughed soon after.
I immediately blushed. "Great Dads, I think it's late and you should go." I said, trying to cut short.
"So are you inviting me for dinner?" Quinn said as I closed the door, her eyebrow risen.
"You're such an idiot, Quinn Fabray."
While I was cooking dinner, I saw Quinn looking outside the window.
It was raining, and she has always liked that sound.
I moved close to her, being careful not to distract her.
"What happens next?" She asked, without even turning to me.
I stopped right behind her.
"I don't know." I answered.
I heard her taking a deep breath and keeping silence for some time.
"I don't wanna leave you again." She finally said.
I got even closer and put my arm on her shoulder. "I don't wanna go."
I rested my head into the crook of her neck, and I saw her chewing on her bottom lip. We were both trying to find the proper words to make the question sound less silly.
"What's this between us, Rachel?" She turned to me, her eyes full of nervousness and confusion.
"I don't know." I replied honestly. She looked at me. "What do you want this to be?" I continued.
"I don't know." She said, hesitantly. "The only thing I know is that I'd like to be with you."
She laughed nervously. "Guess that didn't clarify anything, did it?" She added.
I stayed silent and waited for her to say anything.
She looked down. "I feel happier when I'm with you." She said in a low voice. "And this makes you a very special person in my life, Rachel."
I smiled serenely. I knew she still cared, but I wasn't sure about her feelings.
They might have changed.
"Thank you for being honest with me, Quinn." I said. "I don't expect you to know about this and your feelings. To be frank, I'm also not sure how to do deal with this situation."
I looked down as well. "Yet I'd like to be with you, too."
"How about we try this 'being together'-thing?" She said. "I mean, if you want to." She added.
Insecurity and doubts hiding inside of her were so easy to perceive.
"I want to." was all I managed to say, before feeling arms wrapped around my waist and soft and tender lips on mine, again.
I breathed in her scent and felt safe into her embrace.
I wrapped my arms around her neck and pulled her closer until our bodies were finally flushed together completely.
