I looked for her out under the rain. "Fuck!"
Having her by my side was the foolish dream I'd never been able to give up on.
And she was going. Because I wasn't able to tell her nothing more that couple of accusations.
Because I hadn't told her how much I loved her.
I was feeling like the dumbest person on Earth.
"Quinn!?" I shouted and looked left and
right, but couldn't see the blonde anywhere.
My steps soon turned into jogging, then into running.
Rain was hitting me in the face and blurring my sight. Or was it because of the tears?
I had already passed more than two blocks and
there was no sign of her. Had I taken the wrong direction?
I started to slow down, my sides aching from the lack of oxygen.
"Quinn!" I shouted once more.
I had lost my determination, and was about to turn around and go back home, hoping she would have found somewhere to shelter from the rain.
And wishing her to come back.
Then I heard someone sniffing, trying to choke tears back.
Pain was forgotten instantly.
I got closer, hoping to finally find her.
And there she was, hiding behind an old Toyota that was parked next to the sidewalk at the end of the street.
She was sitting on the curb with her knees pulled to her chest, her face hidden between her arms.
"Quinn..." I said, in a very soft and nervous voice, still being out of breath.
"Rachel?" She said, looking up.
As if she wasn't expecting to see me.
I sat next to her, on the dirty and wet sidewalk.
She looked back again.
"Hey" - I whispered - "Please, look at me." I begged, but still she didn't turn to me.
"I'm sorry, Quinn...you just needed to be hearten and I didn't catch it. I'm so sorry."
"She's so pretty, and skinny, and was really into you." She suddenly said.
"But I don't care about her. Nor about any other girl on this whole planet, Quinn." I reached out and softly wiped her tears, then put two fingers under her chin and slowly turned her to me. "I acted rudely. I'm sorry. What I really meant was that you don't have to fear no one, because..." I looked at her straight in her eyes.
We had said that before, but not that often.
And I was really meaning that.
"...because I love you." I said, all in one breath.
And it was true. I had fallen in love with her probably since the first time I ever saw her face.
And I had never been able to stop.
And, again, I had never actually wanted to.
She kissed me, which was completely unexpected. It was slow, yet needy and full of everything that hadn't been said so far.
"I don't really think we can't make it work." She whispered. "I was jealous...I'm sorry, too. I trust you, Rachel."
I smiled and kissed her again.
"I wanna be with you and only you." I whispered back.
She had tried to act strong and mean her whole life, but she was actually very frail.
Yet had let me see.
What have you been through, Quinn?
"Now would you stop crying?" I asked, keeping a low voice. "And would you go back home with me? And have dinner, with me?"
She smiled and nodded, tears still falling down on her face.
I got up and lent her my hand, which she took without hesitating - luckily.
And we got back home, holding hands.
We caught a taxi and sat both in the backseat.
I wiped all of her tears and let her rest her head on my shoulder.
And when we arrived, we waited for the pizza guy, cuddling on the couch.
"I'll get the door." She said, as we heard the doorbell.
I got her saying "Thank you" and assumed that our pizzas had been delivered, so I reached her into the kitchen.
"They smell great!" I said, laying the table.
"They do." She said, sitting out after cutting pizza into slices. "Hope they're great, too!" She added, biting into one of them.
We were both visibly weary and decided to go straight to bed after dinner, and rest.
"Sweet dreams, Quinn." I said, as I turned out the light.
But she stopped me by putting her hand right on mine.
"Just for the record, I love you too." She said, really giving me butterflies.
