Chapter Nineteen . . . Alone
Derek's POV
Karen was a walking zombie ever since Garrett left. As soon as he walked out that door her sanity and happiness went with him. As I laid next to her in bed I made circles on her skin with my fingers causing her to slightly stir, but not exactly waking up. I looked over at the clock next to her and found that it was almost noon.
"Karen, come on. Let's get up."
She groaned but opened her eyes.
She flipped herself onto her back and stared up at the ceiling. I propped myself up on my elbow and stared at her beauty.
"Tell me baby, what's wrong?"
She sighed. "I miss my son."
I leaned over and kissed her cheek before pulling her over and on top of my chest.
"I know baby, but Dylan is working on this and before you know it he'll be back home."
"What happens if this takes months Derek? I can't survive without him." She was on the verge of tears and I didn't like it.
She shouldn't be so upset, and I vowed to kill the bastard who was doing this to her.
"I promise baby. It'll be over soon, and if not you and I will go out and visit Garrett." I rubbed her arm and she stared at me.
"I love you." She whispered.
"And I love you. Now, we can't be laying in bed all day."
She groaned and threw her arm over her eyes.
"We can, and we're going to."
I kissed the top of her head and she sighed.
"Karen."
"Derek."
We stared at each other for a moment before I did something she didn't expect and kissed her roughly. Our tongues fought for dominance, but I quickly took over. I laid on top of her and used my elbows for support to hold my weight. My lips traveled from her lips to her cheek to her neck. She moaned as I became hard.
"Derek, please." She withered beneath me and I couldn't help but smirk against her skin.
I moved my hand down and put it underneath her shirt and rested it on the skin of her belly before moving it up to the swell of her breast.
"Please." Karen moaned.
"Please what baby?"
"Don't sto-" She was interrupted by the sound of my cellphone ringing on the bed side table.
I dropped my head in the crook of her neck and prayed that the ringing would stop, but it didn't. I picked myself up from her body before rolling to the side and picking up my cellphone.
"Hello?" I breathed.
"Derek?" The sound of Garrett's scared voice let out.
"Yeah, hey buddy, how are you?" I leaned up in the bed with Karen in follow.
"Can I talk to my mom?"
"Yeah, of course, she's right here." I handed Karen the phone and she excitedly took in her hands and put it to her ear.
"Hi baby. What are you doing? Are you feeling okay?" I smiled at her motherly concern and leaned over to kiss her on the cheek.
"I'll be in the shower." I whispered and watched as she nodded clearly not caring what I did.
I let my feet hit the floor and padded my way to the bathroom where I stripped myself of my clothes and hopped into the shower where the warmth hit my body.
I was deep in thought thinking about Karen when the sound of the door slamming shut made me jump.
"Karen?" I called, but the only sound to be heard was the water hitting the floor.
I turned the knob in the shower and opened the shower door.
"Karen?" I called again and stepped out of the shower.
I grabbed a white fluffy towel and wrapped it around my waist and walked to the door. I firmly grabbed the doorknob and turned it but the door didn't open.
"What the hell!" I yelled. "Karen, open the door!"
I shook the doorknob, and pushed as hard I could, but there was something blocking the door.
"KAREN!" I yelled, but got silence in return.
Suddenly the sound of Karen's fearful scream filled my ears, and my heart and brain went into overdrive of fear and panic.
"You son of a bitch!" I yelled and twisted and hit into the door, but I got no result.
Suddenly there was nothing but silence and it was deafening.
"Karen, baby answer me."
Instead of hearing Karen's sweet voice I heard something that sent a chill to my bones, and that was the sound of a deep, husky laugh.
"She's a little preoccupied right now Derek, but would you like to leave a message for her, I'm sure my boys will be sure to give her the message."
"If you lay one hand on her I swear to God I will-"
"It's a little too late for that buddy, but I'll tell you what, I'll take care of her and you stay in here and relax take a nice hot shower and take a load off." His laughter fueled my anger and I pounded on the door even more.
"I'll see you around Barkley, Karen sends her love."
I listened as the sounds of boots hitting the floor got further and further away from the door.
"KAREN!"
