"Sam's back!"
"Ohh, so this is why he's never brought a girl back."
"Yup," another townsperson giggled, "I always knew the Wilson boy was a little too romantic."
Bucky smirked as Sam's face flushed. They hadn't even done anything to insinuate that they were dating. No hand holding, no stolen glances, no kisses— just themselves. Just because they had chemistry.
"This town is lively at 6:00 a.m. on a Tuesday."
"Shut up," Sam knocked repetitively on his sister's door, willing her to answer quickly.
Once Sarah opened the door, he immediately pushed himself inside and left Bucky up for grabs. He stood awkwardly with a sheepish grin and wave, "Hi, Sarah."
"Hello," she raised an eyebrow, before opening the door fully, "Come on in, I guess."
"Sorry to intrude, uh, Sam said he needed to pay you a visit," Bucky shoved his hands in his pockets, "Immediately."
"I see," Sarah's eyebrows remained furrowed, crossing her arms, "Sam?"
"Did you tell the whole town that I'm dating Bucky?" Sam looked at her in disbelief, making her laugh.
"No, why would I do that?"
"I don't know, why do you do anything?" Sam accused.
"They're saying your dating him?" Sarah laughed, "Well, it's not because of me, even though I wish it was. Maybe it's because you've never brought home a girl, but you brought back him."
"Or maybe, it's because my sister spills my business."
"Or maybe, it's because you are dating me," Bucky mumbled, making Sam snap his head toward him.
His eyes widened as he stared at Bucky hopefully, willing him not to repeat that.
"What did you say?" Sarah strained her ears as Bucky realized Sam's expression.
"Oh uh," he watched Sam frantically mouth words he couldn't make out, "I was just saying that it's probably because Sam— pulls...uh...no bitches."
"Excuse me?"
"Yup. Ze-ro bitches," Bucky finished, mouthing 'sorry' behind Sarah as she turned to Sam.
"You're going to let him say that?"
"Uhh, he just-," Sam paused as he searched his brain for an answer, but despite his efforts, nothing came to mind. When he looked to Bucky for help, he couldn't help but notice the disappointment on his face that he tried so hard to cover. To anyone else, Bucky probably looked normal, but Sam knew Bucky too well to turn a blind eye, "I um..."
Every part in Sam's brain yelled at him not to say anything. He couldn't help it. All of his life he was raised to reject anything that wasn't entirely manly, and he thought he threw all of that out when he got with Bucky. He enjoyed being around him more than anyone else because he could be himself, and he surely wasn't ashamed of him.
So why was it so hard for him to tell his loving and accepting sister that he was dating him?
"Sorry, Sarah. Inside joke," Bucky covered up, flashing his perfectly white smile. Sarah chuckled and believed him, but Sam knew it was fake. He knew his subtle refusal was enough to make Bucky insecure. It'd be enough to make anyone insecure.
He bit his lip, "No, uh, actually it's not."
"What?" Sarah stopped, "Am I missing something?"
Sarah's confusion was matched with Bucky's furrowed eyebrows as he slowly shook his head no, not wanting to make Sam uncomfortable.
