Mary Saotome || Part 1

2nd POV

"And then I reach my hand out to pet the cat and she seemed to like it! Isn't it so cute?" Mary watched from afar, face resting on her palm with the other hand tapping softly against the lunch table she along with Yumeko and Suzui are sitting. It was currently lunch time and it was Mary's favourite time. Just seeing the girl talking about the things she liked or what she did the other day somehow managed to make her heart flutter. How much more if you were talking to her? It would be a dream to her.

"Mary-san, you've been spacing out a lot lately. Are you feeling sick? I can assist you to the nurse's office." Yumeko stared at her friend worriedly. Had she been noticing her friend's behaviour for the past week.

"Oh uh.. Don't worry, I'm fine." Mary stuttered and Yumeko found it weird. Mary never stutter and would be right away defensive and most likely shout at Yumeko. Today was different and Yumeko started getting more worried.

Sighing silently, Mary stood up. She waved goodbye to both of her friends as she went to an empty classroom and stood by the window, taking a deep breath before closing her eyes while feeling the cold breeze hit her skin.

"Hey there, never thought I'd meet you here." Turning around, her eyes widened at the sight of you walking closer to her. With a smile on your face, you sit down next to her.

Mary Saotome. The girl you have been crushing on since then. She was beautiful and a little crazy when gambling. That's what drew you closer to her. Every match she had, you watched. Though you never had a chance to talk to her since your friends were always dragging you wherever they go.

"Oh hi." Mary reply shortly. She may look composed but her heart was beating so fast.

"What are you doing up here all alone?" You asked.

"Just needed some time alone, I suddenly felt suffocated back there," Mary chuckles afterwards and you chuckled along. You find her cute.

"What about you?"

"The same reason as you tho I come here almost everyday after lunch." You smiled, looking at the blonde beside you.

"Oh.." Was all Mary's response. You expected something more than that but shook your thoughts off.

"I've never been this close to you so it's new, and you're really pretty."

You being the bold one just straight up said that. Your eyes never leaving the figure beside you and noticed her cheeks slowly turning like a tomato.

"Thanks I guess," Mary grumbled and sinked back as she does not want you to see her likr this. Everybody knew Mary as someone unapproachable, scary and aggressive when in reality she was the opposite. The image she put up so people won't find out her real self. It was for the better considering that she was attending a school with no mercy.

"You're welcome,"

Both of you started talking and you were more than grateful to be able to talk to her freely. It still surprised you how gentle Mary was and cute she was all the while.

"Ah lunch time is over," You groaned and stood up from the seat you're sitting then stretching. Mary stood up as well and you both headed to the door.

Going to the opposite direction as to where Mary was headed, you stopped and turned to Mary with a smile.

"Hope to see you there again,"

She smiled finally, "See you tomorrow."

Butterflies in your stomach, you nod at her statement before walking again.

It was a day to remember.
