2nd POV
Her eyes met yours and she looks away quickly. Your heart broke, accepting the fact that you both will never act the same way again. The longer you look at her, the more your heart throbs. With a sigh, you look back to your friends and joined in their conversation.
You listen but couldn't get their words right into your head.
Maybe if you didn't do it then everything would've still be normal between you two.
Confession. Was all it takes for a friendship you hold dearly to fall apart.
Flashback :
"Hey Ririka, wanna come over after class?" You propose, a smile plastered on your lips in which you had put lip gloss before. The girl stares at you behind her mask ㅡ thinking if she had any schedules after class.
"Sure." She agrees and your smile got wider with the response you got.
"Lunch is almost over, you should go now unless you wanna be late." She slides her hand on your back before patting it gently. You nod and bid her goodbye as you walk away from her the moment you see her wave back.
Once arriving, you sat down on your respective desk and daydreamed, worried that your confession might go wrong. You were nervous, but you weren't one to not risk anything.
"Y/n, teacher's here." Yumeko snaps you out of your endless thoughts and paid attention to the teacher once again. You blink then listen to the teacher discussing the current topic.
It was hard to concentrate when all you could think of was her.
A few hours later you were dismissed from your last period of class for the afternoon, which means it's time to go home. You stop by the Student Council Office and entered with Kirari's permission.
"Ah Y/n, Ririka's already waiting in the limo. Take care you both." She calmy states, hands reaching out for the tea Sayaka had handed to her.
You thank her before exiting the room, making your way to their limo by the gate. Ririka opens the door for you and you sit beside her.
The limo then turns to the direction to your house. Already knowing that Ririka had told their driver, you look out by the window ; hands fidgeting each other out of habit whenever you're nervous. Ririka picked up that habit of yours as she looks at you worriedly. She takes off her mask and grabs your hand, putting hers over your hands reassuringly.
"Something wrong?" She asks, you shook your head no as you manage to let out a smile.
"I know something is, you're my bestfriend and I've known you for so long. There's no need to lie."
Should I?
"Nothing is wrong."
"Yes there is." She argues back.
"No."
"Yes."
"Fine, I like you okay?" You sigh, avoiding her eyes. Her hand loosens around yours and she looks at you sadly.
"Since when?"
"A long time ago.."
She blinks, biting her lower lips.
"I- I can't Y/n.." she softly says, her bangs covering her eyes the more she lowers her head. Ririka never thought about you liking her, not even one bit.
"I'm sorry." She apologize to you, gritting her teeth as she grips tightly on the hem if her skirt. You wince at the words, ofcourse you expected this.
"I like someone else."
You nod, taking her words in and bite your tongue. You wanted to cry, but you couldn't. Not infront of her. Ririka.
"It's fine" You force a smile and look at her.
It's not fine.
"Okay.. O-oh we have arrived."
"Mhm. Thanks for the ride Riri." You bid her goodbye one last time before entering your house.
The moment you got inside, your throat tightens ㅡ tears threatening to fall, and it did rapidly.
You sob silently between your hands, in this very moment you knew things will never be the same again.
