Chapter 28

Devland's POV
It was dark. I mean pitch black. Where the hell am I? I saw a simple light shine above me. Like a spotlight? What is happening? I started walking forward. I didn't know what else to do. I stopped when I heard creaking behind me. I turned around and saw a really tall person standing behind me. I couldn't see their face until the leaned over. I saw a huge smile stretched across their face. "Hey little boy" he said creepily. Eww. "Are you all alone?" He asked. Before I could say anything I saw his mouth unhinge as he reached for me. "NO!" I screamed. I turned around and started running. But I knew he was right behind me.

Someone please help.

"Wake up Dev" I heard someone say while shaking me. "Devland!" They screamed. I jolted up and was met with Joey standing by my bed. "What" I snapped. "I'm sorry I woke you up. It's just that- I came to wake you up for breakfast and you seemed like you were having a nightmare" he said. I just nodded and got up. I walked into the bathroom and looked into the mirror. I looked like shit. "What happened to me?" I asked quietly. "Night terrors" Alec said. I looked like ver and he was standing next to me. "Joey saved you. Thankfully. It would've been worse" he said. Of course he did.

I brushed my teeth and walked out of the bathroom. I walked downstairs to the kitchen and started making my coffee. "Morning Dev!!!" Crimson said hugging me. I hugged her back quickly and continued making my coffee. "Morning Dev. You need to watch Crimson tonight" my dad said walking into the kitchen. I turned around and asked "why me?" "Because she's your little sister. Also me and Joey are going out tonight" he said happily. Of course they are. Can't wait to watch Crimson. Im being sarcastic but not. I love Crimson but it's gonna be soo boring. "Can Dominic come over to help?" I asked. "I'll have to think about that" was all he said and walked off.

Time skip~

Dominic's POV
I was in my room packing my bag. I was going sleep at Devland's house so I wanted extra clothes just incase. I don't usually pack but you know, I am. Anyways. I picked up my back pack and started walking downstairs. "No sir. I told you that you can't sleep at Maya's house. There's no telling what will happen" my mom said sternly. I didn't take offense because she's like that. "I'm not going see Maya. I did earlier. I'm going to Devland's house" I said. I saw that my mom felt bad for being mean but I don't mind. I mean I would be the same if I had a kid. But that's not happening until me and Maya make it official. If we make it that far that is.

After leaving my house I stopped at the gas station. I knew Dev would want an icee so I got one for him. I also got his sister one because you know. She's like my sister in a way. I got to Devland's house and knocked on the door. When the door opened I saw Maya. "What are you doing here?" We both asked at the same time. Of course. "Dev invited me" I said. "Same" Maya said leaning forward and kissing my cheek. I looked at the stuff I had and said "if I knew you were gonna be here I would've bought you some snacks" "oh no baby it's fine. I bought myself some" she said as we walked into the living room.

Maya's POV
I've been at Devland's house for a while now. I really came over because I needed to talk to him about something. Ever since the party people have been spreading rumors about him. And it's pissing me off. Dominic told me that he had at least 9 people text him trying to get info on Dev. Same thing is happening to me. I just feel bad. Of course it has to be about him being gay. If it was anything else I don't think I would be mad. But the stuff they're saying is beyond unforgivable. It really scared me. I know about Devland's past and I know that he's a soft person. I don't want anything happening to him.

"Maya you good. You've just been staring" Dev said with a giggle. "No I'm not ok" I said seriously. Before anything could happen Dominic hugged me tightly. He always does this if I'm sad. I put my hand on Dominic's head and looked at Dev. "Dev I didn't really want to mention this but... people at school are talking about. And it's not in a good way" I said. I could just see that Devland was angry. "Of course they are. It's always me. It can never be anyone else. God dammit. I'm soo fucking tired of this bu-" he was cut off by Crimson hugging him. She was crying. That sent me and Dominic running to try and help. Poor thing.

"Bubba. I don't wanna go back to sleep. I'm scared. " Crimson cried. Devland nodded and picked her up. "I can help her while you guys talk Dominic said. He seemed scared. Devland looked at his phone and said "yea. She needs to be in bed. Just go talk to her until she falls asleep" "on it" Dominic said. He turned around and let Crimson get in his back. Aww. He's gonna be such a good father. When he's ready of course. Once Dominic and Crimson left I saw tears streaming down Devland's face. Oh god. I grabbed his hand and sat him down on the couch. I sat down by him and did my best to calm him down at least a little.

Devland's POV
Why did I go to that fucking party? Why? My life is starting back over again. My dad is slowly starting to hate me and rumors about me are spreading like wildfire. Maya did her best to calm me down but I couldn't focus on anything that she was saying. "Hey Devland. I think you need to be alone to gather your thoughts. Ok? Don't hesitate to call me if you need something" Maya said standing up. I nodded and watched from the corner of my eye as she walked upstairs. Probably my going get Dom. Soon after Dom came down and hugged me. We said our goodbyes and the house fell quiet.

What am I gonna do?
