Chapter 30

Devland's POV
It's been a week since the incident. Everyone is still talking about it. A lot of people keep trying to tell Maya that me and Dom are fucking behind her back. Which isn't true. I would never do that to Maya. She obviously doesn't believe it but it still makes me feel bad. I'm in class right now. I have my head down but I can feel everyone looking at me. And it feels soo weird. I don't have this class with Dom or Maya so I'm an easy target right now. Usually I would have them help protect me but I'm pretty much defenseless right now. I want this class to be over soo bad.

Suddenly I heard someone sit beside me.

I picked my head up and it was Tom. Oh lord. "Why do you want?" I asked. He was smiling at me. But it was a genuine smile. "I wanted to talk to you. Um I wanted to know if maybe we could hang out?" He asked. I just looked at him and asked "oh so you can expose me even more to everyone?" "No I would never do that to you. I mean if I'm being honest I think you're cute and now that I know you're... you know- I just think we could work something out. You know?" He asked. I just stared at him. It's a good thing we're at the back of the classroom. If anyone heard he was gay all hell would break loose. He's not exactly the type of guy that should be gay.

Tom's POV
I waited for Devland to answer my question. He seemed really deep in thought. "Um you realize the second everyone realizes you're gay they're gonna- I don't know- bust a nut or something?" He asked quietly. I tried my best not to laugh at his comment. I took a deep breath in to compose myself. "I really don't give a fuck. And I could you know protect you from them if they try anything" I said sweetly. Devland wasn't having it. He sighed and said "listen you're a baseball player. You should be like getting a really pretty girl or something. Not me. I'm literally nobody" "that's what I like about you. You're soo mysterious. It kinda turns me on" I said.

Before Devland had a chance to even get angry at what I said the bell rang. I smiled at him and walked off. I'm doing great. One step at a time. I went to my next class and sat down. Maya in this class with me. And she's friends with Devland so maybe I can talk to her. I saw Maya walk in and sit down. I moved up a seat and sat next to her. She looked at me with a weird face. "What do you want?" She asked staring at me angrily. "Um so I was wondering if Devland had a type because I don't think he really likes me" I said. Maya just looked at me with a confused face. "Yes I'm gay but just keep it down" I said. She just looked away. Are you serious? I sighed and sat back.

Time skip~

Devland's POV
I was in my last class of the day. I felt soo awkward after what Tom said to me. I wish I could talk to Alec but he's gone. I made him angry and I hate myself for it. I was just sitting on the bleachers waiting for class to end. I was just thinking to myself. "Hey Devland" I heard someone say. I looked up slightly. It was Tom. "Aww you look soo cute" he said looking down at me. "Get away from me. I don't wanna talk to you after what you said about me" I said angrily. He sighed and sat down. He looked at me with a serious face and said "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to weird you out. I just wanted you to know that I seriously do like you" "ok" was all I said to him.

He looked away for a few seconds.

We sat in silence for a few seconds. "So um are you doing anything next Saturday? The carnival is coming to town" he said shyly. I didn't know what to say. He was being soo shy it was kind of cute. "Um I'm not sure what I'm doing" I said. I really didn't. I don't really plan things that early. "Um well maybe I can give you my number and if you can go you can text me" he said happily. He reached in his bag and pulled out a sticky note. He turned around and asked "Um do you have a pen or pencil or something?" "I always do" I said handing him a pencil. He brought his knees up to his chest and wrote down his number.

I heard the bell ring signaling the end of school. That got me excited. I stood up and started walking out the building. "Oh Devland wait. Here" Tom said handing me the paper. "Oh sorry. I forgot" I said grabbed the paper. Right when I grabbed it I felt someone slap me in the back of the head. "Get away from Tom faggot" I heard someone say. It was Justin. I just walked away. I knew this would happen. I just walked away. I walked to the student parking lot and got in my car. "Do I need to kick his ass?" I heard Alec asked. "Alec!!!" I screamed. I leaned over to the passenger seat and gave him a hug. I can say I was way more than happy at that moment.

Tom's POV
I was walking to the student parking lot. I had to apologize to Devland for what Justin said. It was uncalled for. I saw him get in his car so I walked over. But I saw a guy in the passenger seat. He was hugging Devland. I felt my heart break. I should've known he was with someone. I mean he's soo perfect there's no reason he wouldn't be. I still walked over to his car. I knocked on the window. He turned around and rolled the window down. "Hi" he said confused. "Um I wanted to apologize for what Justin said it was rude and uncalled for" I said. He just nodded and said "um well thank you" "uh yea. I gotta go" I said. I walked towards my car and got in. I just put my head on the steering wheel.

Devland's POV
I watched as Tom got into his car. He seemed sad. "Alec are you in your human form? Like the one that other people can see. You know I can't tell" I said. "Uh yea" he said. Fuck. I groaned and said "Alec people are already starting shit about me. Can you go back to only me seeing you?" "Fuck. I'm sorry Dev I forgot. I'll have to talk to your little friend over there about what happened. I can tell that he thought we were dating" he said sitting back. I just sighed and started driving home. I turned on the radio to relax a little. "Wanna get icees?" I asked Alec. "Sure" he responded.

After getting snacks and everything I drove home. I just wanted to have a chill night. I walked into the living room. Crimson was watching a movie. "Hey tell dad I'm gonna be in my room" I said throwing her a bag of gummy bears. "Ok" she said. I walked upstairs to my room. I sat down on my bed and turned my tv on. I put on The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is perfect. I laid down and opened up my bag of candy. I cuddled up into my blankets and just watched the movie. I never really get to do this so it's nice when I can. It feels soo relaxing.
