There was so much blood. Blood and white. The blood was thick, just a few shades away from being considered burgundy. It seeped between the tiles on the bathroom floor, staining expertly-laid caulk. A shrill scream pierced the air, drawing a crowd that buzzed with chatter at the bathroom entrance. The scream was long and continuous, coming from Vanessa.
Mia stared down at Trevor's lifeless body. She hadn't just witnessed what she'd witnessed.
Amidst the high-pitched scream, the stench of blood, and the last remnants of life draining from Trevor's wide open eyes, Mia replayed the last ten minutes.
Drake had immediately started throwing blows, following his rage-filled threats.
Trevor defended himself and attempted to throw blows.
"Mia - get out of here!" Drake shouted while Trevor tried to get him in a headlock.
She moved away from the stalls and towards the entrance to the bathroom, where Vanessa stood. But she couldn't just leave her boyfriend here, not knowing what Trevor was capable of. She whirled around and saw Drake just barely prevent getting trapped in a headlock. He twisted Trevor's arm behind his back. It was an admirable feat, seeing as Trevor easily had three inches in height and at least forty pounds in weight on Drake.
Drake held Trevor's arm behind his back and walked him to the far wall, next to the hand blow dryer. "You're not a smart man. All you had to do was leave my girl alone. You already got away with nearly killing her once. You should have taken that chance."
"What are you going to do?" Trevor taunted, wiping his nose with his free hand. "You're going to hit me a couple of times. Bruise me up a little. Then what do you think is going to happen?"
Mia clasped her hands together in front of her.
"I'll tell you what's going to happen. A few weeks will pass. Maybe a month. Then I'll bump into you and little Mia again. Maybe just Mia this time. I'll get her alone, in a place where you can't interrupt us. And I'll have her." Trevor twisted around so he could get a look at Mia. "Do you hear that, baby? Next time, your boyfriend won't get in the way of what I'm going to give you."
Drake's face flushed red.
"He won't get in the way of what I'm going to give to you," Trevor repeated. "But if he tries, I'll take care of him. I'll take care of him so he can never interrupt us. Ever again."
Drake lost it. While keeping one hand on Trevor's arm, he raised his other hand and grasped the back of the professional football player's neck. He pulled Trevor's neck back and slammed his head into the tiled bathroom wall.
Mia gasped and covered her hands with her mouth.
Drake repeated the action. Once. Twice. Three times.
Mia turned her back on the horrific sight, clamping her hand tight against her mouth to keep from screaming.
Vanessa screamed loudly enough for the both of them.
Blood smeared on the bathroom wall and dribbled down the side of Trevor's face.
Drake released Trevor and stepped back.
Trevor, wearing a shocked expression, slumped down to the ground.
"Your prediction was inaccurate," Drake said coldly.
Mia moved her hands from her mouth to her ears, to protect them from Vanessa's shrieks. She slowly turned around and stared down at Trevor's body. "What did you do?" she whispered to Drake.
