The people who had been invited were members of Bri's and Shawn's family, along with Desirae. Desirae knew that he was involved with Mia, but that didn't stop her attempts at flirtation. He brushed her off with barely a thought and addressed the family as a whole, letting them know what to expect. Then he turned and looked towards the large living room window, which had a view of the patio and pool area. Even from where he stood, a few feet away, he could make out Shawn and Bri standing on the plexiglass cover over the pool.

Mia stood at the living room window, drawing back the curtains with one hand and holding the other hand up to her mouth as she watched Shawn go down on one knee.

Bri's and Shawn's family members started to hoot and holler.

"Shhh," Mia hissed over her shoulder. "We don't want her to know you guys are here until after he's proposed." She turned back around and peered out of the window.

Drake walked up behind her and slid an arm around her waist. He reached up and held the curtain aside for her. He peered out of the window along with her, then glanced down at her. She could barely contain her own excitement, and yet she was barking at Bri's family to contain theirs. "The staff did a great job decorating," he commented.

"Everything looks perfect," she said, her voice muffled because her hand was still in front of her mouth. "Oh my God, he's asking. He's asking."

They lapsed into silence, and after a moment, Mia turned and looked at him over her shoulder. "What is this song that's playing?"

"Just a little something I wrote," he told her. "The song will be played again later."

"It sounds...amazing," she said. "Very haunting and beautiful."

He kissed the top of her head, then raised his head and continued watching Bri and Shawn.

Shawn was staring up at Bri, and she was staring down at him. From this distance, it was difficult to make out their facial expressions.

"Did she nod?" Mia asked suddenly. "I think she's nodding."

Shawn stood up and Bri threw her arms around him, burying her face into his shoulder.

"She said, 'Yes'!" Mia called over her shoulder to her family. She turned around and wrapped her arms around Drake's waist.

He felt wet tears soaking through his white dress shirt. He hadn't expected her to get quite this emotional. He wrapped both arms around her and held her. "You did such a great job of planning this," he told her.

"It's so beautiful," she said murmured into his chest.

He smiled and returned his gaze to the window. Beyond the window, Shawn and Bri still had their arms around each other...much like Drake and Mia did.
