The successful performance in Chicago was a cause to celebrate. The drinks flowed. Drake and Mia moved together on the dance floor, oblivious of anyone else around them. They were in their own little world, lost in each other.
He kissed her lips, her nose, her forehead, and each of her temples. Then he leaned in close to her ear and said, "If it wouldn't be completely tacky, I would drop down on one knee and propose to you right now."
She pulled back from him a bit and stared up at him.
"But it would be ridiculously tacky," he said as he danced with her. "So I'm not going to do that."
"Can't have anyone associating the word 'tacky' with Drake," she said, laughing.
"Not at all," he agreed, kissing her forehead again. "You were amazing out there. You were an inspiration. You're a constant inspiration to me, actually. But now...you've exceeded my expectations. You've soared to heights that would take most artists years to achieve."
"I had great people around me to advise me," she said with a shrug. "You included. And of course, Queen Bey."
He nodded. "She gave you great advice. The crowd was definitely rocking with you."
"And with you," she pointed out.
"More life to Dria," he murmured, gently kissing her lips.

From Chicago, Drake, Mia, and crew moved on to Milwaukee. From Milwaukee, onto Minneapolis, where Zach LaVine made an appearance. Drake being Drake, was extra lovey dovey with Mia onstage. She realized why immediately, but wasn't one to complain about getting extra kisses and touches from the man she loved. The crowd also ate it up, so she rolled with it. After the Minneapolis show, she received word that Zach LaVine was trying to get in touch with her. She and Drake left the venue before Zach had the opportunity to make contact. Drama with him had already caused a wedge between her and Drake once; she didn't want to take the chance of that happening again.
It was Friday night. Another night, another club.
"Oh, shit!" the deejay shouted into the microphone. "The song Nicki has been teasing us about all week has finally been dropped, and we have it. Are you ready?"
The dancers on the floor raised their drinks in the air, calling back to the deejay.
Mia jumped up from the couch in the VIP area and walked over to the railing. She eagerly looked down at the deejay.
Drake approached her slowly, swishing around the liquor in his glass. "The moment is finally here," he said, sliding an arm around her waist.
"I said, are you ready?" the deejay repeated. "Here we go!" He pressed a button on his laptop and the music started playing.
Mia took a sip of her drink but froze when she heard the music. The music sounded unfamiliar. Would Nicki have changed the music on the track? she wondered, glancing up at Drake in confusion. But this music doesn't go along with the lyrics that we wrote. What is this?
Nicki's voice came on the track.
Mia waited throughout the entire track, but about halfway through she was able to confirm that she'd had no part in the creation of this song.
Drake scratched his head and backed away from the railing.
"Would she release two tracks in the same week?" Mia asked him.
