What is this familiar feeling? [XIAOTHER]

Chapter 10: "What are you doing here?"

The next morning, Xiao got up early. He looked beside him to see the sleeping Aether. His blond hair spread out on his pillow.
Xiao caressed Aether's cheek, gave him a kiss on the head, then got up and went to the bathroom.

Moments later, Aether wakes up.
Half asleep, he props himself up with his elbow. Aether yawns and then looks beside him. He didn't find Xiao. Instead, he found an empty side of the bed. He looks around to see if Xiao was still in the room.

Just then, Xiao walks back into the room from the bathroom.
"Oh, good morning sunshine." Xiao sat next to Aether.
"When did you wake up?" Aether sat up properly, stretching his arms up.
"Just a few minutes ago.."

They both got up and walked out to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
Aether would be the one who cooks but today, Xiao cooked up breakfast.

Xiao finished cooking, he placed a play in front of Aether.
"Thank you~!"
Xiao nods, then places his own plate next to Aether.

They began to talk about some random stuff. How they were feeling, and what they were gonna do at the Lantern Rite!
"Are you done? it's my turn to wash the dishes."
Xiao grabbed his own plate.
"Ah, yes. Thank you!"
Aether hands Xiao his plate, smiling.
"Thank you~!"
Xiao nods, then walks to the sink.
He starts to wash dishes when Aether gasped loud.
"Oh shoot! I forgot i had the interview!"
Aether quickly got up and rushed to the bedroom, closing the door behind him.

Xiao finished washing the plates. He quickly dries his hands and takes out his phone.
He calls someone.
"..."
"He's about to leave, you should start driving down here."
Xiao hangs up then puts his phone back into his pocket. Aether comes rushing out of the room, now dressed in a suit.
"Bye Xiao, I love you~!"
Aether kisses his cheek, waves goodbye, then rushed out the door.
Xiao sighed.
He went back into the bedroom, getting dressed.

Xiao comes back out, then he hears a knock at the door.
"It's unlocked, you can come in."
The door slowly opens.
"Hey Xiao! it's been a while hasn't it?"
"Quit the small talk, let's just get this over with.."

"Ah man.. i'm so tired-!"
Aether has finally finished his interview in an attempt to get a job. Unfortunately, he didn't make it.
"I never knew how hard it was to get a job.."
He walks up to his door, taking out his key.
"Ah, Xiao!"
Aether froze.
What was that noise?
It was coming from inside the apartment.
"Shh! Quit down, someone is gonna hear you!"
Aether could hear Xiao's voice.
His heart dropped. What is going on in there?!
Aether quickly opened the door.
"Oh, A-Aether!" Xiao looked up at the door.
"Mr. Zhongli..? What are you doing here?"
Aether was visibly confused. Why did Zhongli make that noise earlier?
"Xiao invited me to find wed-"
Xiao quickly covered Zhongli's mouth.
"We we're looking at uh.. wedding rings for Zhongli and Childe!"
Xiao seemed.. flustered?
"O-Oh, I see."
Aether puts down his bag near the door.
"I'm gonna go chance into something more comfortable. I'll be back!"
Aether walks into their room, closing the door behind him.
"Why did you lie to him?"
Zhongli turned to Xiao.
"It's supposed to be a surprise, remember!"
"...when are you gonna propose?"
"At the Lantern Rite festival.. I want it to be special."
"I see, well, i'll try my best to help you find a good pair for you two."
Xiao nods.
"Thank you.. Father."
Aether walks back out of the room.
"How about I make some tea, yeah?"
"Sounds wonderful, thank you Aether."
Zhongli smiles.
"Alrighty then! Do you want some too Xiao?"
"Yes please, and thank you."
Aether smiles.
"Okay!"
